I’ve been bathing with the most awesome soap! We here in the Cinnamon Hollow household only use homemade soap. I do make my own as a hobby but absolutely LOVE it when I get to try out a fellow soapmakers creations. Especially ones that are creatively colored and scented and leave my skin with that feeling of Ooh la la! ! Amy Warden (soap maker extraordinaire) of Great Cakes Soapworks sent me, for review, one each in her brand new line of Peanut Butter Hamster soaps. What’s behind the catchy name? Peanut Butter Hamster is a childrens band in the Kansas City area who commissioned Miss Amy to create a soap for their song entitled “Good Clean Fun”, which they wanted to hand out at shows. She did not disappoint!
I followed Amy’s blog as she created the perfect purple for her Peanut Butter and Jelly soap, then announced the reason for all the purple
and was so intrigued by the idea. So you can imagine my delight when she sent me not one but ALL THREE varieties to try!
Amy’s soaps are all made using the cold-process method and use only the finest ingredients like shea butter and olive oil. There are NO PEANUTS in the Peanut Butter soaps. They are only fragranced to be peanut-buttery. The Peanut Butter and Jelly is my most favorite. It has the most delightful grape jelly scent and just the right amount of peanut butter. The Peanut Butter with Chocolate Swirl has REAL cocoa in it YUM and the scent will carry you away to a chocolate fantasy island! Especially if you’re a chocolate fanatic like me! The chocolate scent is not overpowering at all in this soap. And of course the Peanut Butter scent is great! It has such a subtle peanut butter scent that lingers lightly on my skin. I love it! The lather is AWESOME! So creamy and bubbly all at the same time. These soaps cleanse wonderfully too! I put Miss Amy’s soaps to the mascara on a white wash cloth test! I wear black mascara and wash my face with a white wash cloth which of course stains like mad. Store bought…ahem… soap (detergent) will NOT remove the mascara from the rag and sometimes even bleaching won’t completely remove it. If you’re a mascara wearer, you know what I’m talking about. Well, I’ve discovered that only a really good homemade soap will wash it out WHILE I’m washing my face. YUP! Great Cakes Soapworks passed the test with flying colors! I scrubbed, rinsed and the wash cloth was as white as could be! WAY TO GO GCS! Seriously, this impressed me to no end. And the reason is that even though this soap has such a great cleansing power, it did NOT dry my skin out. My skin feels great! So the cleansing ability is not harsh, it’s just plain good, all around perfect soap! Creatively designed, delightfully cleansing and luxurious all at the same time. Plus, the 4 oz soap cakes are generously sized and they are good and hard and last and last. They don’t just melt away in the shower after one use.
And one lucky reader will get to see for themselves because Miss Amy is graciously giving away a set of her Peanut butter Hamster soaps to one of you!!!! The contest will run until December 15 and the winner will be chosen via random.org and emailed Dec. 16. So be sure to leave a valid email so I can contact you. If the winner doesn’t reply within 48 hours, a second name will be drawn.
