Can Koozies from Personal Baby

For my sons 10th birthday bash and Digiorno House Party, I knew I wanted to create something personalized to give to our guests.  Our daughter had received the cutest little can holder for Christmas and after doing some online research I found they were called koozies. I knew immediately that these were exactly what this party needed for a bit of personalization and that they were something I could customize myself.

So I sent out a request to my friends at MomPack.com to see if anyone was a distributor and sure enough, someone came to my rescue! I knew there would be someone, the MomPack ROCKS! I was able to order 20 plain white koozies from PersonalBaby.com and the service was OUTSTANDING!!! I had my koozies in hand within one week, actually less! These aren’t your typical thin neoprene ones that tear after one use either. They are lined with a thick black foam liner and the neoprene outside is thicker than most. They have a zig-zag stitching on the sides allowing them to stretch slightly and they fit soda cans as well as bottled water.  I was able to print my custom design onto iron-on transfers and iron the design directly onto the koozie without any problem at all.

If you are looking for can cover koozies for your party or event, or if you are in the market for adorable personalized baby gifts, I encourage you to check out PersonalBaby.com Julie, the owner is friendly and extremely fast in her service. I will most definitely be ordering from her again this year!

Special thanks to PersonalBaby.com for being a sponsor for our Big 10 Birthday Bash!

Gummy Lump – Cute toys for kids and wonderful party gifts!

Gummy Lump is an online store featuring the wonderful and popular toys by Melissa and Doug. But did you also know that you can purchase party gifts/favors?

Gummy Lump graciously donated this wonderful Sports Autograph Memory Frame for our son’s recent Big 10 BIRTHDAY Bash. The frame has an area in the center to place any 4×6 photo along with a permanent marker to allow guests to sign their name and leave a message for the birthday boy. It is solid wood and can be hung on the wall or placed on a table. This makes a GREAT addition to any birthday party, child or adult! After all attendees have left their mark, the guest of honor can save the photo frame as a keepsake to remember their special day.

We took the photo above before our party guests arrived. I had added a little message for the Birthday Boy and one of his little sisters had scribbled her little message in one corner. :D I totally forgot to take a picture after everyone had signed it because my son whisked it away to his room. That was not a land I wanted to enter after 10 rowdy kiddies hyped up on birthday cake & ice-cream had been playing there.

The Sports Autograph Memory Frame by Melissa & Doug can be purchased at Gummy Lump

Special thanks to Gummy Lump for sponsoring our Big 10 Birthday Bash!

House Party & Digiorno made our Birthday Bash AWESOME!

House Party is a website well known for throwing amazing parties by bringing together everyday folk like myself with corporate sponsors. In our case, we were selected to host a Digiorno Game Day Believers House Party. Only we had the added benefit of House Party and Digiorno being official sponsors when we combined it with our son’s Big 10 Birthday Bash!

When you register on the House Party site, you will see a series of event listings. If the event has an ‘apply’ button beside it, you can apply to host that party! If you’re one of the lucky members to be selected, you along with about 5,000 other participants will host a party on the same day using a FREE party pack provided by that given sponsor. How AWESOME is that?!?!

So, for our party, we received several coupons for FREE pizza (6 in fact) and 15 more coupons to give out to our guests for a rather nice discount on their future purchases of yummy Digiorno pizza. My family happens to be big fans of Digiorno so we were more than delighted to be selected for this party. Our party pack also had party rally beads (think Mardi-Gras beads), a pizza cutter, refrigerator magnet, pot-holder and stickers.

We used the rally beads as party favors in the kids goody bags along with sports themed candy necklaces and sports kiddie tattoos, customized can koozies, candy tins with chocolates and a football sticker to close the goody bag, which was a simple brown paper bag. These were PERFECT for a boys birthday!

Everyone LOVED their Digiorno pizza and thanks to several great sponsors (more reviews coming up this week), my son had a super wonderful birthday! Thank you House Party and Digiorno! (Kraft Foods)

Special thanks to House Party and Digiorno Pizza (Kraft Foods) for sponsoring this event. All reviews and opinions are 100% honest and strictly my own.

Parents! Help protect YOUR childs hearing!!!

Parents, did your child receive an MP3 player this past Holiday season? Or for a birthday or other gift? Or maybe they received another device that uses headphones? Maybe your child or teen likes to crank the volume up while listening to music. Studies have shown that this can lead to severe and permanent hearing damage and even LOSS of hearing!

My 10 year old son loves to wear headphones when he is using the computer and I have to CONSTANTLY tell him to turn the volume down. At times, I can hear the game/music plainly even though he has headphones on! And I can immediately tell a difference in his hearing when he has had the volume cranked up. So my biggest resolution this year is to Protect My Children’s Precious Hearing!

Did you know that when MP3 players are purchased as gifts, the majority of purchasers are moms? That finding emerged at the Mommy Tech summit at the recently concluded Consumer Electronics Show.

But do you know about the potential risks? Kids often don’t know how to use audio technology safely and they can harm their hearing as a result. In fact, hearing loss among young people is reported to be on the rise and there are strong concerns that a generation of young people could end up with prevalent hearing loss.

“For some time, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) has warned that hearing loss in the United States could rise significantly due to the misuse of personal audio technology,” ASHA President Tommie L. Robinson, Jr. explains. “Unfortunately, a report released today by the Kaiser Family Foundation cites some alarming trends about excessive entertainment media consumption among our nation’s children, indirectly supporting ASHA’s concerns. This should be a warning to parents that they must regulate children’s exposure and fully understand the potential health threats associated with misuse and over exposure to such technologies.”

“ASHA will continue to bring these issues to the forefront and appreciates the Kaiser Family Foundation’s contributions to the national dialogue,” Robinson adds.

According to a 2004 study by the Kaiser Family Foundation, children were reported as being exposed to 6 hours and 21 minutes of media (TV, music, internet, etc) per day. By 2009, this statistic had increased dramatically to 7 hours and 38 minutes per day. When media multitasking is taken into account, this leaps to 10 hours and 45 minutes per day. This massive consumption of media has led to decreased grades in school and ASHA contends it puts kids at an increased risk of hearing loss.

One thing that is clear from the study is that parents can be very positive influencers on how their children use entertainment media.

Whether your child received an MP3 player, gaming device, cell phone, laptop, or any other device with headphones, don’t overlook the important health threat of hearing loss. Now is the time to reach out to other parents about the importance of hearing loss prevention, the damaging effects of excessive media consumption, and the resources available to them through ASHA.
Here are two simple ways to protect your children’s – and your own – hearing.

· Keep the volume down. A good guide is half volume.
· Limit listening time. Give your hearing ‘quiet breaks’.

Find more information and statistics at ASHA’s website. You can also follow their Twitter feed or fan them on Facebook to get real time updates on their work.

Parent’s, Grandparent’s, Guardians – PLEASE take care of your child’s precious hearing!!!
