Each week, as a Kids Are Heroes Ambassador, I bring to you a heroic child that is helping others through a cause near and dear to their heart. This week  I’d like to introduce you to 13 year old Shea.

Shea has SMA, Type 2, or spinal muscular atrophy which confines her to a wheelchair that she calls her “Ride”. Based on her Canine Companion, Mercer, Shea has written 3 book about a dream she’d love to fulfill but is fulfilled by Mercer. She and her family have self published these books and much of the proceeds from the books go to the SMA Foundation and the Canine Companions Organization. Shea also goes to schools all over the area and gives book talks to students of all ages.
Visit Shea’s Heroes page and let her know how proud you are of her outstanding accomplishments!

Village Candle Lemon Poundcake Review and Giveaway!

I have been testing the 11 ounce Lemon Poundcake candle by Village Candle and I must say, it is delightful! The website describes the fragrance as having notes of Vanilla cupcake, vanilla bean, and lemon zest with notes of hazelnut and anise. The vanilla cupcake and lemon definitely come through. The cake scent is just right too, not overly sweet or overpowering. It is simply mouthwatering. The cold scent throw is great too. I didn’t even have to light it to enjoy the fragrance throughout my kitchen. But once it was lit, the scent throw was even better!

The 11 ounce scented candles have 2 wicks allowing the wax to create a full melt pool across the candle and burn evenly. They are highly scented and fragrance my entire iving room, kitchen and dining area. I burned it the first time for about an hour and received a full melt pool. When I put the flame out, I used a plastic knife to measure the depth of the burn. It was about 1/4 – 1/2 inch. The scent lasts too. I’ve had my candle for several weeks and it still smells just as strong and delicious as the day I opened it!

Belly Burner Review and Giveaway

I recently received a Belly Burner Belt to review (and one for giveaway). I was very excited to test this product. Because I am a breastfeeding mama, I can’t participate in a lot of the diets that are out but I CAN use the Belly Burner. There are no pills or shakes or anything to ingest. You simply wear the belt during your exercise routine and even throughout the day during your regular activities, to heat your core and burn the calories.

It is made from Neoprene, the same material wet suits are made from. Other items made from Neoprene include lap top sleeves, some knee braces and those neat little can koozies we used in our Big 10 Birthday Bash.

The Belly Burner

The Belly Burner Belt can be worn over or under your clothes. It is extremely easy to put on and actually very comfortable to wear. it has Velcro so you just wrap it around your waist, snugly but not overly tight, and stick the Velcro together. Then you begin your exercise or daily activities and proceed to SWEAT!  Regular exercising isn’t always possible for me so I wear it during my  daily household chores and I can really feel it. It really does make you sweat and it gets very wet. To clean, the instructions say to rinse it under water and wash once a month in the washing machine and let it air dry. I haven’t been testing it long but I’m loving it so far and I can’t wait to see if I lose this extra baby weight. My baby is almost one so it’s time to get the weight OFF and I think this Belly Burner is going to be a big help.

Ava Anderson Eye Makeup Remover Review

At age 14, Ava Anderson watched a news report about teens having hazardous chemicals in their bloodstream. These chemicals were thought to be from ingredients commonly found in cosmetics. Skip ahead a couple of years – 16 year old entrepreneur Ava Anderson  launched a line of skin care products that contains NO parabens¸ NO PEGs, NO phthalates, NO SLS, NO 1,4 dioxane, NO formaldehyde, NO added fragrance. Miss Anderson has developed the first line of products in which every ingredient scores a ZERO on the 0-10 Cosmetics Database toxicity scale!

I had the opportunity to test the no alcohol  Ava Anderson Eye Make-Up remover pads. I wear mascara everyday. It is a pain to remove and I have fairly sensitive skin so a lot of the make-up removers on the market cause me to break out leave a burning sensation. The Ava Anderson make-up remover pads did neither. They simply removed the mascara and eyeliner without any residue, burning or breakouts!

Eye Make-Up Remover Ingredients:

  • Water (Aqua)
  • Sodium Cocoamphoacetate
  • Yucca Glauca Root Extract
  • Carthamus Tinctorious (Safflower) Oleosome
  • Citrus Aurantium (Bitter Orange) Flower Water
  • Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract
  • Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract

Products include Cleanser, Toner, Moisturizer, Exfoliator, Sugar Lip Scrub (I’d love to try this!), Eye Makeup Remover or the complete 6 piece Skin Care Set: $108.70. Prices range from $12.95 – $24.95
