Shred Sled Review

I’d like to start this review off by simply stating… WOW! If you need a leg workout, this is it! “The Shred Sled is a next generation caster board combining the movements of snowboarding, surfing and skateboarding all in one board.” And it does exactly what it says. The Shred sled is different than your usual skateboard because it’s wheels are inline instead of 2 side-by-side at the front and another two in the back. Another difference is that instead of continually pushing off to keep going, you use your hips and legs to propel it like you would on a snowboard. It is actually funny to watch and I have a clip below from the Shred Sled YouTube feed.

The Shred Sled is made up of two boards attached by a flexible connector. This allows both boards, or decks, to rotate horizontally and vertically.  I had the bright idea to try it myself before my kids. UM, fail! I figured, I always roller skated and even roller bladed some so it shouldn’t be too hard. Well for a mommy of 4 who has not been on skates in a long time, it was not the greatest accomplishment of mine. I finally got a little bit better and have to say it is really fun. My son had a BLAST!

It was hard for him at first but after a little persistence and practice, he got the hang of it. We have a fairly straight stretch in front of your home and we took the Shred Sled out for some skating fun.  My daughters enjoyed standing on it in the hallway while holding on to me or the wall. :D

I’m not able to post the outdoor photos because each one had at least one neighbor kid from around the block and I couldn’t get them edited out properly. I don’t feel comfortable posting their photos. And there was no chance of getting a photo without kids galore. The Shred Sled caught the attention of all the neighbor kids!

“The Shred Sled’s 4 x 80 mm polyurethane wheels and ABEC-5 bearings are smoother and stronger than standard hardware and rarely need to be replaced. Also, the board’s aluminum casters surpass the quality of older board’s metal casters which often rust.”
