Buzz Off Mosquitoes! Buzz Away Insect Repellent Review

Back in the summer I tested out a natural insect repellent called Buzz Away. Living in the South we are faced with horrible mosquitoes, ticks and flies as well as other flying insects that are a nuisance. The first thing that springs to mind when thinking of an effective mosquito repellent is DEET. But there are safety worries when it comes to using harsh chemicals with my children. Buzz Away is made from natural ingredients that I use in everyday products and is considered safe for children 1 year and older.

Ingredients:
Soybean Oil, Geranium Oil, Castor Oil, Purified Water, Coconut Oil, Glycerin, Citric Acid, Lecithin, Sodium Bicarbonate, Benzoic Acid. In a blend of Essential Oils of Wintergreen, Citronella, Cedarwood, Peppermint, and Lemongrass. (Patented base HOMS)

I was sent for review the 4 oz bottle, travel Towelettes and Towelettes 25 count Pop-Up container. My family and I used the spray during an outdoor picnic when the mosquitoes weer at their very worst. While the scent was a little pungent, smelling strongly of citronella, I did not receive a single mosquito bite. Not even one! My daughters had 2 bites the next morning but we realized that they had gone out earlier in the evening before I had sprayed them down. So we tried it again and they did not receive any bug bites. I used it a third time and again, no bites. None. I was pleasantly surprised.

The spray can be used directly on your skin. It does need to be applied a little more often than typical repellents if you’re going to be outdoors for long periods of time. The spray lasts up to 4 hours.

The Towelettes are fantastic for travel. Throw the pop-up in your diaper bag or tote or toss a few of the individually wrapped towelettes in your purse and you’re good to go. They are easy to use and in my experience worked great.

I’m not a huge fan of citronella, so the scent was a bit strong to me but considering I am a mosquito magnet and I hate the thought of using DEET, Buzz Away has become my new best outdoor friend. The scent is nothing compared to those nasty little biting buggers! :D Other family members didn’t notice it as much as I did so it may also be that I have an overly sensitive sniffer. Either way, the product worked great and I have a new insect repellent that I’m proud to use for my family.

Olivia 2-in-1 Playset and 8 inch Plush Review

My 4 year old daughter is and HUGE fan of the cartoon Olivia. She has most likely seen every episode, owns an Olivia DVD and has memorized the theme song. Oddly, we had never purchased any of the Olivia toys. We recently received for review the Olivia 2 in 1 Transforming Playset and 8 inch plush doll for ages 4 +. (Just in time for her 4th birthday!)

My daughter and I both fell in love with the playset. When you open one side, it is her house, but when you flip it over and unlatch the little lock, it opens up into a Pirate Ship. The dollhouse comes with an Olivia figurine, 23 accessories to decorate the house and ship and a sticker sheet to add to the accessories. There is even a little Pirate hat for the Olivia figure! It is absolutely adorable. My daughter squealed with delight (kind of like a little piggy) when she opened her Olivia toys. The dollhouse was opened immediately and she and her older sister spent over an hour playing with the set. It does have very small parts like a toy plate, pirate map, etc. so keep it away from those younger than 4.

One side unlatched Pirate Ship Side

The Olivia 8 inch plush is also adorable and has become my daughters new sleep time buddy. It is very soft and is dressed as an Artist complete with plush paint brush and artist hat. My little Olivia fan has played with both the playset and doll every day since she received them so I’d say they are definitely a huge hit.

DiamondEarrings.org Review and Giveaway

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “Diamonds are a girls best friend”. I can’t always afford diamond earrings and am a little fearful purchasing them because I know I will surely lose an earring. DiamondEarrings.org offers beautiful simulated diamond earrings and you can receive a pair for the cost of shipping! All you have to do is mention DiamondEarrings.org somewhere on the web like your blog, forum or favorite social network site, then pay $3.77 shipping and you’ll receive a pair of these lovely earrings.

Mine arrived in a heart-shaped black velvet jewelry box. The stone is very bright and beautiful and reflects the light very well. I have fairly thick earlobes and the posts could stand to be just a little bit longer but the backs did stay in place and I didn’t lose an earring. I received several compliments on my earrings. Everyone thought they were very lovely. I am one of those that can only wear sterling silver or gold or my ears will drive me crazy the entire time. The posts are .925 sterling silver and did not cause any itching or burning. I didn’t have a bit of problem wearing them. I love them and think they really cute with a sweater, jeans and boots or dressed up for church or a semi-casual date night with hubby.

Heartbreak. Pregnancy Loss. Here we go again.

I am going through a very difficult situation right now as I once again face a pregnancy that wasn’t meant to be. I know I have several product reviews and campaigns to do this week but I will have to postpone those until next week and the week after. I hope no one minds. I’m just not up to working this week. I actually did try to get some work and PR requests done last night to get my mind on other things, but I just couldn’t concentrate so I gave up.

I am just going to copy and paste my status update from my Facebook profile from last night to explain things a little. I am too tired and heartbroken right now to type it all out again. I’ll update more next week.

“I have some very sad news. I was supposed to be 9 weeks pregnant, due April 22 but after a trip to the ER Saturday and follow-up with my OB today due to bleeding/pain an ultrasound & hormone levels show a Blighted Ovum which is an embryonic sac with no baby. D&C scheduled later this week if I don’t pass things at home first. This is my 5th miscarriage in 9 pregnancies. Please keep me in your prayers. God Bless.”

I am actually scheduled for the D&C Wednesday morning. If I’m not too tired or in too much pain tomorrow night I’ll try to get a very quick update posted. Thank you all for hanging in there with me.

WOO HOO! You made it to the bottom of my blog... rock on supa-star!
