My 4 year old daughter and I decorated a paper cupcake. We were sent for review a craft kit from 1-2-3! Textured Products. These kits are designed to give kids a hands on experience with texture, color and creativity. Each kit is a blank canvas for your child to design how they see fit.
We decided to use only the items that came in the little kit but you can use items from around your house like buttons, leaves, flowers, yarn, fabric pieces, dry pasta, beans, pom-poms, googly eyes, etc. The only thing that limits it is your creativity. After decorating her cupcake, my daughter then attached the cupcake to the purple card stock it was shipped with and made me a lovely Mother’s Day card. This is the loveliest card I’ve ever received and it was made with love by my sweet little girl. And she had a wonderful time playing with the confetti and plastic scraps that came in the kit.
After creating her cupcake and card, my daughter asked if she could use the leftover pieces from the craft kit to create additional projects. She had a wonderful time designing cards for her family and thinking up new items from around the house to add to them. This is a small product without a lot of items or detail but it is a great way to get your child involved with textures and get their imagination working.
You can purchase individual kits or a monthly subscription. The individual kits are perfect for parents, grand-parents and babysitters who are looking for additional activities for the little ones in their care. The monthly subscriptions are great for pre-school teachers and homeschooling parents. The monthly kits are full of activities that encourage learning in the areas of fine motor, gross motor, cognition, language, math, drama and science for children ages 2-5 years old. Anyone who works with children in this age range knows that they become bored very easily and require a lot of attention. So these kits make great activities while also being fantastic learning/teaching aides.
