The iShine Bible is a bible created specifically for tween aged children. It is available for both boys and girls in corresponding colors of blue for boys and pink for girls and uses the NLT translation. The iShine Bible features something unique to Bibles. Throughout the Bible you can find various QR Codes that can be scanned with a barcode scanner app installed on a smartphone. These QR Codes, lead you to more information on that particular teaching. (Purpose, Identity, Value, etc.)
I have a tween son and a pre-tween/tween daughter. As a member of Tyndale, we were lucky enough to receive review copies of these Bibles. I love the way the Bibles are laid out. They have an edgy look that is attractive to tweens so you child will want to pick it up and look at it. The NLT version breaks down the language in the Bible so it is easily understandable, making it perfect for kids and adults alike. And the iShine Bible asks questions pertaining to your child that will make him/her think about their purpose in this world and how their differences are a part of God’s plan.
When asked what his favorite part of this Bible was he responded, “All the parts where it tells you what each thing means. And I like that it is an actual Bible and not just stories about the Bible”. He said it is easy to read and easy to understand. The text in this Bible is quite small but he still enjoys reading it and learning about his place in God’s world.
My daughter is a little bit younger and would rather I read some of it to her. But being pink and containing graphics inside that are appealing to her age, she really seems to enjoy having a Bible all her own. I’m certain she will continue to read through this Bible on her own.
