The best 4th of July weekend EVER!

Did you have a great 4th of July weekend? Hubby, the kids and I had the best weekend EVER! Our weekends usually end up hectic and aggravating with no real plan for any given day. But this year, I had everything all planned out so any surprises that came up fell right into place. The entire weekend just flowed right along. It was FABULOUS!

On Friday, I got to go see one of my (step) sisters who I haven’t seen in ages. Her babies have gotten so big and I just couldn’t believe how much they’ve grown and how gorgeous they are. I’ve missed her so much. Since my mom died, my family hasn’t seemed to be able to get together like we used to. So I don’t get to see anyone very often. It felt so good to go to her house and spend even just a few minutes visiting with her. I only wish the rest of my siblings had been there. Then it would have been perfect!

After we left, we met my husband’s sister and her hubby at Sam’s Club and did a little shopping for our Sunday cookout. While we were there, I ran into a long time friend. I’ve known him since I was around 6 WEEKS old! ha ha ha It had been even longer since I’d seen him than it had my sis! He had his two children with him and they are also absolutely beautiful children. I’d never met them so that was wonderful.

That night we enjoyed time with our own 4 darlings. We took them to their favorite ice-cream shop and they all enjoyed a sundae. Then we came home and just had nice, quiet family time together. On Sunday, my husband’s family came over and we had a cookout and sang Karaoke. I might have screeched out a song or two. HA! It was so much fun! Well, for us it was fun, I’m not so sure it was fun for our neighbors!!! ;0) (No we didn’t crank the sound up….. to much)

I got to meet my brother-in-law’s mom, who is the sweetest thing! Hubby grilled hamburgers on the grill and because I’m doing the 6 week to a Lean Green You Bootcamp, he fixed me a BOCA burger with a slice of soy cheese. I’d never had either but it was really, really good! I can honestly tell you that I NEVER imagined myself being a vegetarian. And while I am still having a touch of meat now and then, I don’t really miss it when I don’t. My taste is acclimating towards the vegetables and away from meat. It is so weird and cool all at the same time!

And then finally, yesterday, we drove to this big field and watched some gorgeous fireworks. Here’s a little gallery of them. The pictures don’t do them justice. They were HUGE and beautiful and so full of color. There were loads of them that had shapes inside them! I did manage to get a photo of one of the smiley face ones but there were others that looked like Saturn, some with what looked hearts inside. There were just all kinds. And the finale! OMG it was awesome! It lasted and lasted.

I videoed part of it before my phone battery died and I’ve added it here. It isn’t the best video in the world but I had a load of fun putting it together for you. I hope you enjoy the fireworks!

So, what did you all do this weekend?

It seems you had a really god time and I think that every one should have such a beautiful 4′th of July:) The most amazing thing is that you have such a big and happy family. Not everyone is so lucky. I also had a great 4th of July, with fireworks and classic rock music. The Michael Libow‘s concert was fantastic, and the fireworks was absolutely beautiful!

@Theresa, Your 4th sounds wonderful! I’d love to attend a concert and fireworks show.

We really did have a great time. It is funny because we spend time with my husband’s mom and step-dad AND dad and step-mom all at the same time. They get along great which makes it so much easier for our family. :0)
