Give a child a joyful Christmas. Champions for Kids. #CBias, #DisneyCFK

Every year my husband and I give as much as we can spare to the local charities like Salvation Army, Food Pantries, Angel Trees, etc.  My husband has been laid off his fair share the last two years so we know what it is like to wonder if there will be any gifts under the tree at Christmas. We don’t have much, but we give what we can to places we feel like it is most needed. I never feel like it is enough, though. I still feel like I am not really showing my children what Christmas is all about. I want them to really see and feel the Spirit behind this beautiful Holiday. I want them to want to give more than receive.

simple-card-disney.jpgThis year, thanks to Collective Bias, we are participating in the Champions for Kids SIMPLE Service Project by donating a stocking filled with Disney themed goodies to a child in need of some extra love. I decided that I am going to really include my children by having them go on the shop with me. We are going to be filling a stocking with Disney themed items and donating it to a child that might not have many gifts this year. I am going to talk to the Family Resource Center at my childrens school and get their help in selecting a family to donate our stocking(s) to.  They are there to offer assistance to families in need so they will know the exact families we can help. And I am going to have the kids help me throughout the entire mission. This way, they will really get a hands on experience and will understand more of what it means to give back.

I have to say, I am really excited to be a part of this project and can’t wait to take my kids on a stocking filling mission! So be sure to keep an eye out for my follow-up post showing our stockings!

You can do it too! Visit the SIMPLE Service Project page for the details.

Join us for the Champions for Kids Twitter party on December 15th at 9:00 EST.

What are some ways you like to give back and make a difference?
