A few days ago, my husband was put into a very awkward floral situation!

flowers.jpgOn Monday, someone knocked on our door. Standing there was a very out of breath delivery guy holding a beautiful basket of flowers. They had a card with a woman’s name on them.

I really wish I had taken a photo because they were gorgeous! They looked a lot like the ones from a Dallas florist  you see over on the right only they were in a basket instead of a vase.

They had a lot of pink daisies, and roses. They were so pretty! And, they weren’t for me. :0(

So, the delivery guy explained to my Hubby that they were for a neighbor of ours and that he had tried to deliver them but no one was home. He asked my husband if he could leave them here and place a note on the neighbors door explaining where they had been delivered. Hubby said sure. We’re good neighbors. We don’t mind.

Several hours went by and no one came to claim the flowers. I told my husband he should go knock on the door and see if someone was home, and give them the flowers. They might have been laying down or int he shower or anything and not heard the delivery man knock on the door. So he took them up there.

Sure enough the husband came to the door, explained that he hadn’t been home but that he’d come through the garage when he came in and didn’t see the note. He had an odd look on his face but thanked my husband for delivering the flowers then proceeded to tell him that he sure wish he knew who had ordered flowers for his wife, because he HAD NOT! My husband said he just sort of smiled and backed away… just as the wife pulled in to the driveway.

It was sort of an “Ok, here ya go, gotta run” kind of thing. I’m sure the whole experience was completely innocent. Someone probably just sent her congratulation flowers for something. But it sure did make for an awkward moment between my husband and a neighbor we don’t even know!

Have you even had an experience like this with a neighbor?
