Aveda Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight #AvedaNaturallyStraight #spon @SheSpeaksUp @Aveda

Disclosure: I received complimentary product from SheSpeaks/Aveda for review purposes. All opinions are my own formed through personal testing of the product. Your results may vary.

My hair has always been straight and thick but pregnancies and childbirth really changed the texture of my hair. Over the last several years it has developed a weird wave and the frizzes and looks like I’ve just taken a pony tail out even when I haven’t,  so I have to use a flat iron ALL THE TIME. I get tired of flat ironing my hair. Not that it takes very long, but it damages my hair. It literally fries the ends even when I use heat styling products. I color my hair. Plus I use both the hair dryer and the flat iron. So it goes through some heavy proessing and that results in damage. I’ve been wanting to find something that would allow me to heat style it less and Aveda Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight is helping me do just that.

Aveda Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight

I received Aveda Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight and the Aveda hair care line including Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Shampoo, Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Conditioner and Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Style-Prep Smoother along with Aveda Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight. The goal has been to use the products each time I wash my hair and after 5 consecutive uses, my hair should remain straight for up to 3 washes. Not 3 days, but three WASHES! That means that for 3 washes I wouldn’t have to blow dry and flat iron my hair to get it straight.

And it’s not a chemical based product. The ingredients are plant derived which means a more natural option for cleansing and styling my hair.

  • As you blow-dry your hair, plant-derived fibers help create a locking layer to help hold your hair straight, day after day*

*After 5 consecutive applications of naturally straight, hair will stay straight for up to 3 washes.

  • Organic cassava root helps form a barrier against intense humidity to help you forget about frizz

I was skeptical to say the least. But I was also all for giving it a try. Here are my results:

Wash Day 1: I washed my hair with the shampoo, applied the conditioner and the Style-Prep Smoother and Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight. I blew my hair dry with the blow dryer but did not flat iron it. It was fairly straight and only had minor friz. It was actually a little smoother than usual and pretty shiny in the light.

Day 1: Aveda Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight

Wash Day 2:  I washed and conditioned with Aveda, applied Style Prep Smoother and then the Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight. I then used the blow dryer and flat iron. My hair was really straight and super shiny. It still had a few fly-aways and frizzies during the day but nothing like usual.

Wash Days 3 and 4: Again, I washed and conditioned with Aveda, applied Style Prep Smoother and then the Smooth Infusion Naturally Straight. I then used the blow dryer and flat iron. My hair on these days was incredible straight and smooth. NO fly-aways and no frizz throughout the day.

Ok, now it is supposed to stay straight throughout the next three washings without a heavy buildup of product or a weighed down look. Here’s how it did in my hair:

Wash Day 6, 7 and 8. I followed the same routine as above. On day 8, I don’t have to go over my hair as much with the flat iron and I’ve even reduced the heat a little.  It looks much straighter after only blow drying and the flat iron is just giving it a bit of a sleeker look. For day to day, I don’t think I’ll need the flat iron at all! I’ll still use it for “date nights” with Clay but for the most part, this styling system is working great for my crazy pony-tail wave hair!

Aveda Smooth Infusion Before and AfterDay 1 BEFORE using the Aveda Smooth Infusion™ system  – Day 8 AFTER using for 8 days

I’ll be getting my ends trimmed and some long layers put in this week to cut out some of the over processing damage. Once I do, and continue using the Aveda Smooth Infusion system, my hair is going to be amazing!

Go from naturally curly to naturally straight. Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Naturally Straight is a lightweight styling creme that progressively loosens curls every time you style.  As you straighten your hair, Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Naturally Straight’s naturally derived plant fibers invisibly attach to hair to loosen curl and help lock in straightness. The formula’s humidity barrier of organic cassava extract and maize defends against frizz. The more you use it, the easier it is to create straight, smooth styles, so you can spend less time with a blow dryer and flat iron every day. It is safe for relaxed and color treated hair. After five consecutive applications of Naturally Straight, hair will stay straight for up to three washes.

How to Use the Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Products:

Step 1: Wash hair with Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Shampoo and follow with Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Conditioner. Towel dry hair and comb through.
Step 2: Apply Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Style-Prep Smoother to damp hair, by working it through from the mid-shaft through the ends of hair.
Step 3: Apply Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Naturally Straight. Depending on hair length and thickness, start by using approximately a small coin sized drop of Smooth Infusion™ Naturally Straight styling creme on towel-dried, still-damp hair, applying it one section at a time.
Step 4: Blow-dry hair straight using the brush of your choice. Flat iron if desired.
