For the better part of the last month, I have been testing out a brand new version of the Murphy USA app, available in both the Android Market and Apple iTines Market.
The Murphy USA app offers several great features with improvements being added regularly. Some improvements include a whole new design and color combo which is very attractive, in my opinion. I love the red and blue and think it makes it very easy on the eyes and east to navigate. All the features are in a vertical line. So you’re not having to hunt for what you want to do with the app. With it, you can compare gas prices of nearby stations, no matter where you are. You can also pay directly from your phone using Murphy USA handy Murpay service, track your miles per gallon and cost per gallon and store your favorite gas stations for quick looks at their current prices.
Using the GPS feature on my phone, it quickly found several nearby gas stations. The first couple of times I used it, the app found several local gas stations right off the bat. The last time I used it, though it only found one nearby station. So that was a little disheartening but I’m wondering if maybe my GPS wasn’t just acting up that day? Along with the one station it found then, it also found a few in neighboring counties which was actually pretty helpful because not only could I tell what our local Murphy USA gas station price was, I was also able to check the stations in the next county over. That was helpful because I was headed in that direction anyway, the next nearest station was only a few miles past mine and the gas was a few cents cheaper. So I waited to fill up there and saved money in the process! AWESOME!
I also love that if I’m in a hurry, I can use the Murpay service and pay directly from my phone. I can decide before I ever leave the house how much I want to pay, get in, pump my gas and be done with it. As a mother with kids in tow, this is extremely handy.
The photo above shows that you can Enroll in Offers but I am not seeing that on my version of the app so I haven’t been ab;e to utilize that feature yet but I think it will be very helpful. Who doesn’t love to save money and receive special offers? I know I do.
Overall, it’s a really handy app to have and I can’t wait to see future improvements and hopefully, continue to participate in the testing!

To play you pop the bubbles by tapping on them before they reach the top of the screen. If you accidentally tap on a fish, they pass gas leaving a trail of bubbles and a “toot”. When you tap a fish it begins to cloud the screen. The more fish you accidentally tap, the more the screen clouds with a thick green fog, making it difficult to see. You also get a lower score if you tap on the fish. The kids of course purposely tap on the fish and then proceed to crack up in laughter at the sound of the little flatulence fish! And mommy cracks up at the constant giggles coming from the kiddies. It is a win-win situation!
There are three levels of game play (Easy, Medium and Hard) as well as kids mode. For toddlers (or anyone) there is the kid mode that is more relaxed and doesn’t keep score. This mode is great not only to keep the kids occupied but also when you just feel like popping bubbles. I happen to be addicted to popping the bubbles on bubble wrap so this is a good alternative!
When your game is over there is an option to post your game stats to Facebook and brag about your newest high score. The Facebook app only asks permission to access your profile and post to your wall. That is how it posts the status update. And it only does so when you click the link and ask it to.
