The Smurfs Dance Party for Wii. Review. IT IS SO MUCH FUN!

The Smurfs Dance Party for Wii

The Smurfs Dance Party for Wii is SO FUN! The kids and I broke out our dance moves and got our Smurf on. I don’t think I’ve had that much fun playing a video game in quite a while. Some of the songs seem a bit slow for a dance game but you really get a pretty good little work out. And they are hit songs so it is as much fun to listen to as it to play. And all four of my kids enjoyed it. The youngest is only 2 and too young to actually play but she was up on the ‘dance floor’ dancing right along with us. And even though we had to take turns playing because we could only seem to find one of our controllers, the others danced right along until it was their turn. FUN, FUN, FUN!

Who Let the Smurfs Out and We Like to Smurf It were my absolute favorites to dance with and I have to say, evil or not, Gargamel was my favorite character to dance with. The Smurf characters are, naturally, animated. But the Gargamel character is a real person and let me tell you, he can really shake it! I had so much fun Smurfing with my family! I admit it. I didn’t want to give the controller over. I didn’t want to give up my turn! So I just hung out and danced in the background. I am not a dancer. I have very little rhythm. But I immensely enjoyed getting up there and shaking it with my kids! AND, the kids were playing the game while I was writing this post and I caught myself dancing in my seat while I was typing. OMG it is so much fun! I see a Saturday night dance party in our VERY near future! This game is absolutely perfect for the entire family. All ages can enjoy the songs and watching the characters. And I, for one, am beyond thrilled that we received this game to review!

Characters include:

  • Papa
  • Smurfette
  • Clumsy
  • Brainy
  • Gutsy
  • Grouchy
  • Gargamel

Introduction:

The Smurfs are excitedly making preparations for the Blue moon Festival, when the evil sorcerer Gargamel attacks. Chased and cornered, the Smurfs travel through a mysterious portal and land in New York City!

In The Smurfs Dance Party, you can join their adventures in Story mode, or dance along to the Smurftastic songs in Dance Mode and Playlist Mode. You can even earn figurines in the Awards section as you progress through the game.

Johnny Test, the Hit TV Show on Cartoon Network, Available Now on Nintendo DS. Review.

Johnny TestJohnny Test Cartoon on DS

Johnny Test™, the Hit TV Show on Cartoon Network, is available Now on Nintendo DS™ and my 11 year old son couldn’t be happier! He recently received the opportunity to review the DS game, put out by 505 Games, and says it is “COOL”! He is a long time fan of the cartoon.

Johnny Test DS Game

The game consists of multiple levels that are achieved by completing courses and working your way to defeat the Boss. Johnny and his sister’s and Dukey constantly forget to turn off the ‘real life simulator’ machine. The bad guys overhear their plans and know to beef up their security.

Johnny Test DS Game

My son says that this is a platform game like Mario that only moves left to right but can jump. He enjoys “the different ways you can look and the different powers you can have in the game like as Johnny X. You can pass flames from your bottom.” :D

My son says the graphics are really good. The colors are just right, the images are easy to see. He says he can make out each item in the game.  The game play is standard, not too fast but the levels have enough difficulty that he doesn’t get bored. He has some levels that are a little hard to get past which gives this DS game just enough push to want to continue playing. His favorite part of the game are the funny comments in the game. Overall he gives it a 10 out of 10 rating, even compared the other DS games he plays.

Johnny Test™ is the TV series’ first-ever full-length videogame and features all of the characters you’ve come to know and love, like  Johnny’s dog Dukey, his twin genius sisters Mary and Susan, next door neighbor Gil and villains Bling Bling Boy, Mr. Wacko, and Brain Freezer. Players can expect to encounter them all in the quest to save Johnny’s hometown of Porkbelly.

Johnny Test Game Features:

  • 12 Hilarious Levels! Play through 12 mind-bending levels of non-stop adventure, including a side-splitting story and video game parodies.
  • Alter-Ego Gameplay: Play as Johnny or as his alter egos: Johnny X or Trooper J!
  • Push the Limits: Speed limits, time limits, physical limits – test them all with a fantastic collection of gadgets fresh from the laboratory and power-ups galore!
  • Customize Yourself: Change Johnny’s mood and ego as you play through each different level, utilizing his attitude to help advance in each situation.

Johnny Test, available everywhere for only $29.99 USD.

Roman Town PC Game by DigIt. Mommy Party

romantown.jpgMy son and his buddies recently had a blast being Archaeologists and they never had to leave the house or get covered in mud. (Or this time of year, snow)

We had the unique opportunity to host a Mommy Party for DigIt games and share with our friends, Roman Town, a PC game all about archaeology.

My son and his friends really loved digging up ancient pottery and items like outdoor heaters and learning about them. It surprised my son when he dug up a skeleton of a servant. The game then went on to tell a story about the servant and what had happened to him.

This game is really a great way to incorporate a little history into your childs life in a fun and unique way. They boys had a great time playing the game a feasting on foods such a Mummy Dogs and Mummy Wraps, Excavation Cake, Diggin’ Dirt Dessert, Fossil Punch and Muddy Juice (chocolate milk)! Get these yummy recipes here!

The kids received the best goody bags too! Each bag included a DigIt Games winter hat, sports bottle and coloring page. The boys loved them!

Get Moving: Family Fitness Wii Video Game Review

WOW! I have had a GREAT cardio workout this week! As you know, I’ve been searching for easy fitness options for overweight beginners, like myself. I’m on a quest to get up off my hiney, move more and lose this extra weight once and for all. I’ve reviewed several products and games that are fantastic and work wonderfully but I’m always searching for things can work together and be switched in and out to combat exercise boredom.

Brooke Burke, of Dancing With the Stars and Modern Mom AND a mom of 4, has teamed up with Jump Start to create a family fitness game that gets you up off the couch and moving. Get Moving: Family Fitness for Wii. You can’t sit to play this game. It just won’t work. I was up and moving and enjoying every minute of it. And because it is sports themed, it is more like playing and less like actual exercising but you are still getting the workout.

There are 15 different sports challenges. 3 minute boxing, 6 minute marathon, basketball, running for a touchdown,  hitting a baseball, volleyball and bicycling are just a few in this game and each one gets your heart pumping. So I strapped on my Belly Burner (that thing rocks!) and got to work. I found boxing to be one of my favorites and on day two my arms were SORE! I could really feel it. As the week progressed, I changed the level from Easy to medium, then to the hard level. Because there are 3 difficulty levels, you’re not stuck trying to do a “one size fits all” routine. The entire family can play this game and you can play with just your Wii Nunchuck and Controller OR you can use the Balance Board. But you don’t have to have the Balance Board to play.

Not only are there 3 difficulty levels, there are many different arenas to play. 11 to be exact! Play volleyball against cows on the farm or in Atlantis. Score a touchdown in a Bug’s View, etc. The graphics are great and capture my kids attention, making them want to join in. And the routines are fun yet powerful.

The baseball game was my least favorite. Not that it wasn’t fun but I had a really hard time getting the ball to go in the direction of the target. Maybe I’m just not good at baseball, because I’m not,  but I just couldn’t seem to master that one. Hubby had a much easier time with it than I did.

Key Features

  • Design your own character to race and play.
  • Build customized routines for extra challenge.
  • Compete head to head or play solo.
  • Play underwater, on a farm, in Egypt or 8 other exotic locations
  • Access expert tips for more ways to stay healthy.
  • Train with Brooke to make the most of every motion.
  • Track calories burned to see your progress.

This really is a great fitness game for the entire family and I intend to use it daily as my exercise routine.

Vacation Isle: Beach Party Review

My children and I have been testing out the Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s Vacation Isle: Beach Party game, for Nintendo Wii. This game can be used with or without the Wii Balance Board by using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. The game features eight (8) different activities including Slalom Skiing, Wake Boarding, Surfing, Stand Up Paddling, Ski Jump, Stunt Park, Hula and Fire Dancing. You can adjust the skill level so even the little kids can play. I love this because it lets my whole family in on the fun, not just the older kids and adults. And the graphics are amazing! It is a really pretty game to look at as well as fun to play.

Watching my son do the fire dancing cracked me up. He really got into it, trying to keep up with the guy twirling the flaming baton. It was hilarious! My 6 year old really loves the wake-boarding and is really good at it too!  She uses the Wii remote and nunchuck and does a great job hitting all the coins on each side. My favorite is the Hula dancing and the fire dancing. Our 3 year old daughter is right beside me practicing her hula moves and dancing up a storm!  You can get a pretty good workout too if you allow yourself to get into it and really move with the characters. This game, with it’s 8 different activities and different difficulty levels is so much fun! We are planning another luau themed party for our daughters summer birthdays and because you can have up to 4 players, this will make a great addition to our party activities.

Visit the official website for creative downloads, gallery/videos and to purchase.
