Cleanse Your Homes Air With A Himalayan Salt Lamp

I have wanted a Himalayan Salt Lamp for years. Each time Clay and I head to the Smoky Mountains I see them in the local shops and they look so inviting and serene. The cast the most beautiful pinkish-orange-ish glow. I wanted one so bad and I finally got one!

I teamed up with the Himalayan Salt Shop and received a complimentary lamp so I can share more info with you. I’m incredibly excited to have received one. I’m testing it, personally, and all opinions are my own formed through testing it out.

Ok, with all that said, here’s my thoughts on this lamp. I adore it! I have it in my home office, which is also our bedroom. It is right beside me as I type this, casting its beautiful glow.

What are the benefits of a Himalayan Salt Lamp?

• Heat from the bulb (in our salt lamps) or flame (in our candle holders) causes the salt to emit negative ions
• These negative ions bond with the pollutants in the air (positive ions) and neutralize them
• Also, the newly bonded ions become heavier and fall to the ground removing them from the air circulation
• In addition, these negative ions combat electro-smog caused by electronic devices operating in the home
• Symptoms from asthma, allergies, and other illnesses can also subside from the effects of these products

I can’t, yet, attest to relief from my allergies because I have only been using my lamp for about a week. But I can tell you that, since I’ve been using it, I feel much more relaxed and I am sleeping better at night. The glow of the lamp is so soothing, calming and relaxing. I feel much more productive at work and more relaxed at night.

Let me just emphasize one point here. My kids are home on summer break. All 4 of them. And I work from home. Yet, I’ve become more productive in the last week with less headaches and better sleep. That. It. Huge. I”m attributing it to this lamp because, really, that is the only thing that has changed around here.

I’ve noticed that my head doesn’t hurt at the end of the day. I don’t know if it is  the ionization of the salt lamp itself or from the relaxing glow but, either way, I’m enjoying it.

We all want cleaner air in out homes. I have pets and kids so I especially want cleaner air. Pets stink and have dander and hair. Kids sometimes stink and are messy. We also have central heat and air that is constantly circulating throughout our home. If it can cleanse the air in my home and remove toxins, naturally, then I can see where it will have a great affect on my allergies and having pets in the home. I’m looking forward to testing that out!

Ok, so far what I’ve noticed with my Himalayan Salt Lamp, for me, is:

• Decreased headaches
• More relaxed
• Calmer
• More productive at work
• Better sleep at night.

My results so far are great!

My lamp fits so nicely on my nightstand. I have one of the smaller 5 – 7 pound lamps and it is very thick, very sturdy and quite heavy to lift. I have no fear of the cat knocking it over, that’s for sure.

The center is hollowed out so the light can go inside but the salt is still very thick.

The Himalayan Salt Lamp comes with a wooden base that lends to the natural look of the lamp. The base has notches in it so the cord can come out and the lamp sit flat.

These lamps come in several sizes and even different shapes. The natural shaped lamp that I have ranges in weights from 5 – 15 pounds. There are also bowl shaped and candle holder lamps. I am particularly fond of the natural shaped lamps.

My son begged me for the lamp. In fact, he asks me every day for it. He wants one for his room and, now that I’ve seen one first hand, I’ll definitely get him one. In fact, I plan on getting a couple more for more rooms in the house. Because this lamp is so calming, I’m hoping it will help with any teenage angst and mood swings. We shall see.
