Ju-Ju-Be Review: HoboBe In Shadow Waltz

It’s not often that I fall in love with a bag but that is the case with the HoboBe Bag by Ju-Ju-Be that I recently received for review. It is awesome and I am totally in love. Although Ju-Ju-Be bags may be well known as diaper bags, they are versatile enough that many women carry them solely as purses or travel bags. I chose the HoboBe in Shadow Waltz for that very reason.

When we travel to Tennessee we always take a stroll through Gatlinburg as well as taking small hikes. I’d like to take my good camera with me so that I can snap photos for Cinnamon Hollow but it is really cumbersome to tote even a crossbody purse along with my camera bag. So I wanted something large enough and with enough pockets that I could carry my camera, extra batteries, my Bloggie, items for the kids and my personal purse items. The HoboBe was the perfect choice. By simply taking out the removable changing pad, I now have the bag I need. For hiking, I have a more rugged bag that I’ll be reviewing soon. But today, I want to show you my new favorite touring bag.

 I chose Shadow Waltz for the black and white fabric so that it would match anything I wear. And I LOVE the dark pink liner. It makes it very easy to find my things inside. My camera isn’t a DSLR so I don’t have all the extra lenses to worry about but it is a bridge camera. It is a Nikon Coolpix L820 so it is large enough to need plenty of room. And this bag has PLENTY of room for the camera, extra batteries, charger, Bloggie, etc. on the inside.

My personal items like my license, keys, extra money, mirror and brush all fit in the mommy pocket so I can keep it all handy. We like to visit the Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery for samples so I need my ID handy!  And I can keep my cellphone in the very handy cellphone pocket. So it’s always in reach for talking or quick pics and social media shares. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S3 and is fairly large. It has plenty of room in the cellphone pocket. I can even put my ear buds in there if I want. So there’s no worry about fighting to get my phone in and out of the pocket.

 The strap is padded and very comfortable on my shoulder. The padded area is made in place so it doesn’t slide up and down the strap. I love that! It is fully adjustable so if you have a longer waist or like to wear your bags lower, you can extend the length. I was hoping it would fit long on my waist as a crossbody but because I have some thickness in the belly and a larger bust, it doesn’t work that well for me. I can wear it as a crossbody that sits just below my bust. I just wish is sat a bit lower on my hips. If I was thinner, I probably could. Either way, it works perfectly on my shoulder and I haven’t had any problem with it sliding off.

 I’ve been carrying my Ju-Ju-Be everywhere and I love it. The fabric has held up perfectly. I’ve had no problems with the liner or the pockets. I love that everything is right where I need it and easy to find. It is large enough that I can carry extras for our 4 year old. And because it is made to initially be a diaper or toddler bag, the AgION Antimicrobial Lining lets me not have to worry about mold, mildew, germs, etc. from carrying snacks for the kids in my purse. It’s Teflon coated so if I get something on it while traveling or from the kids, the stains won’t stick. And it is machine washable. This is cold and flu season so I love knowing that if I have to put my purse in a shopping cart or on the floor (eek) I can toss it in the wash and it’s good as new.

Also, the 2 side pockets are insulated with Thinsulate by 3M so I can carry my coffee right in my purse and keep it hot! OH-EM-GEE how fant-abulous is that? I hear a choir singing and see a bright light shining on my HoboBe. It’s Heaven sent! We have a trip coming up in a couple of months and I am giddy with excitement. I can’t wait to use my HoboBe on vacation and see how it does. After all, that’s what my original intent was.
