Disclosure: I received a complimentary VTech Connect To Call system as a member of SheSpeaks. All opinions are my own.
I love my smartphone but there are spots in our house where the signal isn’t so great. If I move to certain rooms while I am talking on the phone, I lose the signal and drop the call. It is so aggravating! And becasue we have switched to a cell phone only family, we depend on having a good signal. So I’m trying out the VTech Connect to Cell™ phone- 2 Handset Connect to Cell™ Answering System with Cordless Headset and it is so cool!
All you have to do is place the base unit where cellular reception is best, then enjoy the freedom to make and receive cell calls using your cordless handsets anywhere in your home. What exactly does that mean? Well, when you put the base unit in your best cell reception location, the handsets then function off that awesome signal. So you can move anywhere throughout your home with the handsets, even in dead zones, and not drop your call.
That is just one of the many features of the VTech phone. You can also:
- Download Phonebook From Cell: Store 2000 records from up to two different cell phones; no need to input names and numbers into your cordless phone system.
- Virtual Multi-Line Operation: Pair up to two cellular lines and one landline with your cordless system. Then, enjoy the freedom to make and receive calls on all three lines—all at once.
- Make and receive landline and cellular calls: Connect to BLUETOOTH®-enabled cellular phones to make and receive cellular calls with the ease and comfort of a home phone system.
The system comes with 2 handsets, full size base unit, additional charging unit, batteries, Bluetooth headset with headband and ear clips and can have up to 12 additional handsets purchased and added to it.
You can have a total of 3 phonebooks on your handsets. We have synced ours to Clay’s cell phone, my cell phone and then use the third for phone numbers that we need but don’t necessarily need on our cell phones. Like carry out restaurants or the kids friends. This is such a handy feature. I didn’t have to input all those number manually. They synced automatically. And if you download the VTech Contact Share app, you can choose which contacts you want to share to your handsets.
The handsets can also be set to show you when you have a voicemail through your cell phone carrier, calendar notifications and even when you’re tagged in social media. There is also a built-in answering service that can be used with landline AND your cell phone but I haven’t had any luck getting that to work. I have it set to answer on less rings than my smartphone but so far, it hasn’t picked up. My calls still go to my cell voicemail. So I have to figure that out. Although it isn’t a huge deal for me because I’d rather just use my voicemail. If we had a landline phone, I’d definitely take advantage of the answering service though.
You can use the handsets as an intercom. If my husband is in the back of the house, out of earshot, I can ring him on the other handset and we can chat back and forth.
If one of us is on a call and the other needs to make a call, the other handset is set for the other cell phone and CAN be used even though one is already in use. I can either make my call using the Cell 2 button or I can join in on his call and talk to the person on the other end too. That is really cool.
I keep my cell phone in my purse most of the time and I either don’t hear it when it rings or I don’t get to it in time. So by having these handsets that are connected to my smartphone, I can keep my phone in my purse and still answer or make calls using the handsets. They are the same size as a regular cordless phone and are fairly comfortable to hold. If I need hands free conversation, there are 2 options for that too! I can either set the base to use as a speakerphone or I can simply put on the included Bluetooth headset and talk away. I LOVE THIS SYSTEM!!!!
