Experience Fall In The Smoky Mountains With Adventure Park Zip Lines At Five Oaks

If you’ve ever experienced fall in the Smoky Mountains, you know just how glorious and beautiful it can be. If you haven’t you’re really missing out! But, seeing it while gliding through the trees would be a whole other experience.  Adventure Park Zip Lines at Five Oaks in Sevierville, Tennessee offers zip line tours, horseback riding and a brand new adventure called Tree Tops Ropes Course. You won’t just see the fall leaves from a distance, you’ll actually be high in the trees viewing them up close.

Their zip lines range from 450 feet to 2,500 feet. There are 7 zip courses set inside a 70 acre nature park, surrounded by trees, streams, and mountain air. They take you on a zip line course using experienced ACCT certified guides. The courses are for ages 3 and up with and the zip lines use “redundancy” lines offering 2 cables on each zip line for backup.

My family and I have been longing to do a zip line course on one of our trips to the Smoky Mountains. We just haven’t had the opportunity yet. We either haven’t had the time to fit it in or one of just wasn’t able that trip. Clay and I are both fairly adventurous and would love to go zip lining through the mountains. So it’s definitely on our “must do” list. Oh, and they’re open until 11 PM so you can even zip line at night! That would be so awesome, especially during October. It would be a fun Halloween adventure just to go through the mountains at night.

I hadn’t heard about the Tree Tops Ropes Course until recently. I believe its fairly new. It  features Tarzan bridges, cargo  nets, floating planks as well as zip lines and is for ages 4 and up. So the entire family can really enjoy this fun, outdoor adventure along with the regular zip line course at Adventure Park. I”m actually pretty excited to check it out. I watched their YouTube video and it looks amazing.

If zip lines aren’t your thing, maybe you’d like to try horseback riding? It has been YEARS since we went horseback riding.  But Clay and I both love it. My mom had a horse when I was a teenager and we used to go trail riding all the time with one of her good friends. I really miss those days and would love to take our kids out on horseback. And to be able to combine that with our love of the mountains… well, it’s just something we really need to do on one of our upcoming trips. Our oldest daughter would flip out at the idea! She adores horses.

So, I’m pretty sure that we’ll check out Adventure Park Zip Lines and their horseback trails either this fall or in the spring. The kids would “go ape” over the Tree Tops Ropes Course. (that was punny, lol)

Ok, ok, so that was a corny joke. Anyway, if fall leaf peeping in the mountains is on your to-do list like it is ours here are some places shared with me, to share with you.

FIVE ADVENTUROUS WAYS TO VIEW FALL FOLIAGE IN SEVIERVILLE, TN

4) Ride horseback through the mountains. Whether you choose to ride in the national park (at Sugarlands Riding Stables) or enjoy a scenic foothills ride at Adventure Park at Five Oaks, you’re sure to have an amazing time. www.sugarlandsridingstables.com

3)  Cross America’s longest swinging bridge on a tour that will be both meaningful and adventurous at Foxfire Mountain Adventures. The hour-long Swinging Bridge Adventure tour crosses the aptly named “Bridge to Prosperity” and then invites participants to hang a wishing tag (complete with heartfelt wish) in the trail’s covered bridge for the winds of prosperity to blow through and grant the wishes. www.foxfiremountain.com

2)  View the leaves from above with Scenic Helicopter Tours. Take a quick flight over the foothills or venture into Great Smoky Mountains National Park for a birds-eye-view view of the park’s incredible fall foliage. Flights range from $9 per person for an introductory experience to flying over a large portion of the national park (approximately 100 miles). www.flyscenic.com

1) Take a hike in the woods. Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers over 800 miles of maintained trails for a variety of fitness levels. Choose an easy paved trail for a quick stroll with the family or challenge yourself with a hike to the top of Mt. LeConte. You can even hike a portion of the internationally famous Appalachian Trail while leaf looking in the park. Great Smoky Mountains National Park is America’s most visited national park. If you can’t go this fall, try to go during the winter months and check out Winterfest! We’ve been several times and the I can tell you that it is super pretty. You will see Holiday lights from Sevierville, through Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. They’re everywhere and they’re gorgeous! You can also check out Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland lights show too. Our family really enjoyed that last year.

This years theme at Shadrack’s will be Santa’s Mountain. I bet the light show will be awesome!

25^th ANNIVERSARY WINTERFEST CELEBRATION LIGHTS UP THE NIGHT IN SEVIERVILLE

100% LED Smoky Mountain Winterfest runs Nov. 10, 2014 – Feb. 28, 2015

Sevierville (TN) – During the winter months, Sevierville and the Great Smoky Mountains area sparkle with millions of twinkling lights during Smoky Mountain Winterfest (Nov. 10 – Feb. 28). Smoky Mountain Winterfest has become a holiday tradition for many visitors who return year after year to enjoy the lights, shopping, shows and attractions.

One hundred percent of Sevierville’s Winterfest lights, displays and attractions are LED, which equates to a 90% energy savings for the city and is gentler on the environment.

Viewing Smoky Mountain Winterfest lights with friends and family is a great way to get in the holiday spirit. For added fun while viewing the lights, visitors are encouraged to make a quick stop on their way into town at the Sevierville Visitor Center on Hwy 66 (1.5 miles from I-40 Exit 407). There they can purchase a pair of Winterfest in 3D glasses while supplies last for only $1. The glasses shift each point of light into a snowflake, adding even more interest to the intricate light displays.

Special Winterfest attractions, like Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland at Smokies Stadium, add to the excitement. Winterfest lights are a huge draw, but once visitors arrive in Sevierville they also find incredible shopping, shows and attractions. Sevierville features nearly 150 name brand outlet stores where shoppers can find everything from fine China and clothing to tools and furniture. Specialty retail shops featuring items like fine art, antiques and collectibles and outdoor items are also popular. Visitors can even take a piece of Winterfest home by visiting stores like Country Christmas & Collectibles where Winterfest style lighting displays are for sale and custom displays are built to order. The fun continues through February with Winterfest events and year-round attractions.
