My husband, Clay, and I recently celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. We had NEVER been away from the kids for more than a night. And certainly never in another state for an entire weekend. So to celebrate, we took an anniversary trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee and stayed in a delightful cabin through Auntie Belham’s Cabin Rentals called Bear’s Den.

Auntie Belham's Bear's Den

This cabin is PERFECT for a romantic weekend getaway, honeymoon, anniversary trip, etc. It sleeps 2 people and has plenty of room for a couple. Bear’s Den is absolutely perfect for a honeymoon or anniversary trip for two. It is basically a one room cabin with a bathroom but it is fully loaded with anything you’d need.

The kitchen is fully stocked and there is a charcoal grill if you plan to prepare all or some of your meals at the cabin.  The kitchen has a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, etc. The fridge has an ice maker. There are plenty of pots and pans, a coffee maker, microwave, blender, toaster and can opener, etc. And the charcoal grill outside is great for grilling up some steaks. We grilled steaks one night and the next night we ate at the Loco Burro in Gatlinburg. It was good!

The Loco Burro

There is a hot tub as well as an indoor Jacuzzi tub. Both are great for relaxing after a long day hiking in the Smoky Mountains or walking the Gatlinburg strip. The hot tub was fantastic. We spent each day in Gatlinburg, shopping, playing mini-golf and checking out the Moonshine distilleries.

We even spotted the very last blooming flower in Gatlinburg for the fall of 2014. Wasn’t it pretty? If you look at the reflection in the water, you can even see me and Clay. :0)

Gatlinburg Tennessee

After walking the Gatlinburg strip all day it was so nice to come home and relax in that hot tub. The jets hit all the right places and my legs and back were so relaxed after. I wanted to bring it home!

The bed and living room area are open and there is a romantic, heart-shaped Jacuzzi tub that is plenty big enough for two. The bathroom had a shower, sink, toilet and washer and dryer. There were plenty of towels and wash clothes and a starter supply of toilet tissue, soap and dish soap and paper towels in the kitchen.

The bed is a giant king sized bed. It’s pretty comfortable too. I don’t know if it was just being away from everything for a few days or if it was the big bed but I certainly slept like a log!

I think it is a waterbed frame with a giant king sized mattress in place of the waterbed. Either way, it was comfy.

There is a wood burning fireplace and it was so nice to sit by the fire at night, snuggled up with my honey, and watch TV. We watched Christmas movies each night. And since there wasn’t a house full of kids, I was actually able to hear what the movie was saying! It was ni-i-i-ice! (not that I don’t adore my kids, but we just needed a little time together, away from the hustle and bustle of parenthood)

The cabin decor is really pretty too. There’s a little bit of bear decor. There’s even a stuffed animal bear on the top of the bed. The curtains are plaid and the rest of the decor is just country and wonderful cabin decor. It’s rustic and homey. I could live there.

The driveway was a little scary at night because it is a bit steep and rough. You’re in a mountain so it’s a mountain driveway. We made it up fine in the car we borrowed but if you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, I DEFINITELY recommend bringing it, especially in the winter months. Otherwise, there is a little flat spot a short way down the driveway where you could park and walk up if you had to. We were fine the weekend we went though.

In my opinion, Bear’s Den really is the perfect cabin if you’re looking for something for a romantic weekend. Clay and I will most definitely rent it again. It was just secluded enough that we had some privacy but still easy enough to get into town.

I’m a big fan of Auntie Belham’s Cabin Rentals and fell in love with Bear’s Den. We both had such a wonderful, romantic and relaxing weekend getaway for our 18th wedding anniversary. Clay and I both agree that we would go back today if we could!
