I hate the flooring in our current house. Most of it is carpet that seriously needs to be changed. The kitchen and bathrooms have linoleum. Stained, cheap linoleum with cracks and grooves in it. It’s old and the house is very drafty. It’s really hard to clean and never really feels sanitized with regular mopping using a string mop or sponge mop. It was here when we moved in and we currently rent so until we move, I’m stuck with it. Bleh!
Regular mops don’t get it clean enough so I’ve always wanted to try a steam mop. But not just a steam mop. This floor has to be cleaned with cleanser. So I wanted something that would clean the floor with a wet cleanser and then also sanitize it with steam. I also wanted something that could be used on any type of hard floor surface, like both wood and linoleum, in case our next home has something different. I found those features in the Shark® Steam & Spray™ Pro mop.
I love this Shark Steam & Spray Pro mop! In fact, I went from a daily sweeping with a heavy mopping twice per week and dreading it, to giving them a good, sanitizing mopping twice per week and a sweeping and quick once-over with the Shark Steam & Spray Pro mop each day. And they need that because we have 4 kids, a dog and a cat. It was just too much of a hassle to deep clean these floors before. Now, I don’t dread cleaning my floors.
Before, because of the type of linoleum, I had to sweep with a broom and dust pan (sometimes going over it with a vacuum), then mop with a mop and soapy, warm water, then go over it with plain water. If I didn’t rinse a couple times with plain water the floor would be tacky. The floors are really odd. They look ok but once you clean them you see how miserable and weird they are.
Now, I sweep really well with broom and dust pan (sometimes still using the vacuum to get up dust). Then I fill the water reservoir in the mop with distilled water. I set it to the third setting and let it warm up just a little. Once the steam starts, I push the button to release the cleanser and begin mopping. Pushing the button on the handle sprays cleanser while you mop and the steam helps to clean, sanitize and prevent the sticky residue. My floors look great after mopping now!
Because the cleanser part uses batteries and not electric, I can also give a quick spray, when needed, with one of the disposable pads on and clean up quick messes without using steam. This is great too because you can unplug the cord and use it as a cordless cleanser. Or, I can use just the steam only mode for a quick sanitizing.
The Shark Steam & Spray Pro mop has three settings:
- Steam-Only Mode – turn tap water into steam for a deep clean with no residue
- Steam & Spray Mode – steam combines with the Shark® Hard Floor Cleanser for a high level clean to remove stuck-on dirt, grease and stains
- Spray-Only Mode – swap in the lightweight, battery-powered head for a quick clean-up
There are two types of cleaning pads. The Multi-layer washable cleaning pad is really thick and has little loops that really grab the dirt from your floors. They can be washed in the washing machine and last through about 20 washes. These are great for the deep, sanitizing cleaning using the Steam & Spray mode.
The SaniFiber Disposable Pads are designed for all floor types including hard wood floors. They are fairly thick too and can clean a couple of floors before getting to wet or dirty.
This mop did such a great job on my floors. I can’t believe how clean it got them. I had just swept and mopped with my regular mop the day before this photo was taken. On this day, I swept the kitchen floor really well. Then I used the Shark Steam & Spray PRO mop on the Scrub setting with a reusable pad. I mopped the entire floor using the cleanser and steam. Look at how nasty the pad was when I was finished. And this was on a floor that had just been mopped the day before! My old mop was clearly not getting the job done. GROSS!!!
The cleansing pad looks nothing like that after mopping now. It is still fairly clean looking after mopping each time. So it is doing its job and getting my floors clean. I am so glad I was able to try out the Shark Steam & Spray PRO!

Does this also vacuum things up? Or are you sweeping before you use it. My dog brings in a lot of dry grasses, having all wood, tile or linoleum this seems like it’d be good to have. Thanks for the info.
Hi Teresa!
Unfortunately it does not vacuum. I do still have to use a broom and dust pan. I wish it had that one additional feature. If it vacuumed too it would be perfect!
I forgot to say I love that you can wash & reuse the pad too. Thanks for your review.
At the company I work (https://carpetcleaningmerton.org.uk/) we use mainly steam cleaners for commercial cleaning. It is the most efficient and it is chemical-free cleaning. We are always looking for good steam cleaners that we could use. Thank you for the review! The Shark Steam Spray Pro seems great!
