Dirty Santa Game: Download This Free Christmas Game Printable

Do you like playing Minute-To Win-It type games or White Elephant games, at your Christmas or Holiday parties? Have you ever heard of or played the Christmas game, Dirty Santa? Despite it’s name, this is a good, clean game filled with Christmas fun. I’ve created and included a free download printable, below, with the instructions.

Dirty Santa Game

We play this game every year at our annual Christmas party. Think of White Elephant games or Pass The Gift games. It is the same as that and a ton of fun.

A white elephant gift exchange, Yankee swap or Dirty Santa is a party game where amusing and impractical gifts are exchanged during festivities. The goal of a white elephant gift exchange is to entertain party-goers rather than to gain a genuinely valuable or highly sought-after item.

There are a few different sets of rules floating around the web but this is how we prefer to play and I have a free printable you can download and print to showcase the rules at your party.

To play this game, everyone at your gathering will need to bring one (per person) wrapped gift. This can be in any dollar amount you choose. We, typically, say between $5 – $10. Gifts can include candy, socks, candles, oven mitts, lottery tickets, gift cards, alcohol (for the adults), coloring books and crayons, puzzles, etc. There really is no limit to what you can bring.

All the gifts are placed in a pile in the center of the room. Each player chooses one gift from the pile and sits in a circle. Don’t open your gifts, yet! Then the game begins.

Starting with the first person, have them roll the dice. Depending on their number, they will have an instruction to follow (on the download). This could be something like pass your gift to the right. After everyone has had their turn, the game is over and your guests can unwrap their gift.

There are many, many ways to play this game. We have, in the past, had everyone draw a number, then go in order to choose a gift from the pile. On their turn, choosing a gift, they can opt to keep it or steal from another player. Many times, though, folks won’t steal and that takes away some of the fun, making the game not last nearly long enough.

You can choose how you want to play, this printable just makes playing Dirty Santa game a little easier and adds some more excitement.

Items You’ll Need For The Dirty Santa Game Rules Printable Free:

  • Dice
  • Wrapped gifts with no tags (one per person)
  • Printed download with game play and rules

I like to print mine, place it in a page protector and then tape it to a board that I can hang on the mantle for everyone to see. You could also place it in a picture frame and set it up.

The download is a .pdf and has 2 pages. The first page includes the instructions for the game. The second page is your game play sheet with the corresponding dice and instructions per roll.

While I love these party games, sometimes, after the Holidays are over, I need some downtime and want to play a game online without all the hullabaloo of a group of family. I love solitaire masters online card games. My grandmother always sat at her kitchen table playing solitaire. This is just a new take on an old game. And I love it!

I hope you enjoy this game as much as our family. Leave us a comment if you download and play! What are some gift ideas you have for the Dirty Santa Game?
