Essential oils are VERY concentrated, do absorb into the bloodstream and some may interfere with certain medications and health conditions. For instance, I have high blood pressure and need to be careful when using rosemary essential oil. So, please, do your research before use and use with caution. With that said, essential oils can be an amazing addition to your health and wellness and natural home. DIY Peppermint Cooling Powder Recipe

This Cooling Powder recipe is super simple to make and even easier to use! I love to use it in combination with this anti-chafe stick. Together, they help prevent the skin on my thighs, under the boobs and under my belly from rubbing together and causing friction, sweat and irritation. Plus, they help keep me cool!

The cooling effect comes from Peppermint Essential Oil. It provides an immediate cooling feeling that lasts for a nice, long while. Lavender Essential Oil adds a lovely soft fragrance along with being soothing to the skin. Kaolin Clay and Arrowroot powder help absorb moisture and sweet almond oil dilutes the essential oil to keep it from irritating the skin. (links to all these products are in the recipe card below) Because this is a powder made from powdered ingredients, mix and use with caution. Avoid breathing in dust particles.

I like to wear a mask when I’m mixing this up. Just a regular paper or fabric face mask usually does the trick. You can wear safety glasses, if you’d like, but you should be ok without them. I wear glasses most days so I haven’t needed any eye protection. If the dust, while mixing bothers your eyes, pop on a pair of safety glasses. Once it’s mixed, it’s ok. It’s just all the stirring that can cause the powders to float into the air. So be careful when mixing.

To apply, you can use a powder puff or a Kabuki brush. Just dust it on all your creases and crevices and you’re done! Anywhere you tend to sweat or chafe, you can use this powder, avoiding the eyes and mucous areas. If using an anti-chafe stick, rub that on first then top off with the cooling powder for a cooling, anti-chafing finish.
