I seem to be enthralled with Amish novels as of late. I don’t know if it is their non-tech lives or their close relationship to God, but I find myself reading more and more novels about the Amish way of life. Now, I know these aren’t Autobiographies but the way the stories depict Amish lives very well.

I wasn’t lucky enough to have read the title before “The Wonder of Your Love” but I’m very glad I participated in this current blog tour. And I will certainly go find the first novel in this Land of Canaan series so that I can get a better feel of some of the characters mentioned, like Martha. I believe we learn more about her in Book 1.

Book 2 in the Land of Canaan series, “The Wonder of Your Love” is about Katie and and Eli. Katie Ann is a single Amish mother who lost her unfaithful husband in a car accident. Eli, also a widower, is the father of 6 and not looking for love. The two have a connection that develops further in the story and we find that love sometimes finds us when we aren’t looking for it. Katie Ann must also deal with an enormous surprise when her husband’s mistress pays her a visit. I’m not sure I could deal with the twists and turns in Katie Ann’s life. Her character is a much stonger woman than I am!

About the book:

Katie Ann Stolzfus lives in the small Amish community of Canaan, Colorado. At forty she is widowed and raising her first child. Eli Detweiler has come to Canaan for a wedding and a long vacation. Having raised six children following the death of his young wife, Eli is finally an empty-nester. He’s enjoying the slower pace of having no one to care for but himself. When Eli meets Katie Ann there is an instant connection. Yet as strong as the attraction is, they both acknowledge that a romance would never work. But as their friendship slowly blossoms into feelings that are as frightening as they are intoxicating, Katie Ann and Eli question if the plans they made for themselves are in line with God’s plans. Can Katie Ann entrust her heart to another man, and rediscover the wonder of God’s love?

I love the way Beth Wiseman wrote the characters in the “The Wonder of Your Love”. While she depicts the Amish way of life pretty accurately, she also shows us how some have adopted more Englisch ways of life and the use of minor technology. I like feeling that extra connection.

If you haven’t started reading the Land of Canaan series, I recommend you get started!
