Fun Facts About People Who Just Love RV Travel

Have you ever wondered about what type of person likes going on RV travel holidays? If you have, then this fun fact listicle is for you. We take a look at all of the things that are specifically unique to individuals who love travelling in recreational vehicles.

They tend to be middle-aged

People who love going on RV travel tend to be middle-aged, unlike the Instagram-obsessed Gen Z and Millennials. Many people who love RV travel are in their late 40s or early 50s. What’s interesting is that the average age of the RV traveler is coming down. It used to be mid-50s, but now it’s actually below the age of 50.

They like saving cash on vacations

Another fact about people who stay at RV resorts is that they love saving money on their vacations. Estimates suggest costs for this type of holiday are between 20% and 60% cheaper than most alternatives because of savings related to hotels, flights, and food. Many RV travellers actually cook in their vehicles themselves because they have kitchenettes, which reduces wallet pain further. This means more holidays per year and less time spent working to save up the money.

They don’t go far to find fun

Interestingly, even in a country like the US, most RV vacationers don’t go far to find fun. The vast majority travel less than 200 miles in a single trip, meaning that many are just exploring local areas.

RV trips aren’t all about crossing the entire country from the east coast to west. Instead, it’s more about quick weekend breaks that the whole family can enjoy.

They use their rigs more than you’d expect

Another fun fact about RV vacationers is that they use their rigs more than you’d expect. Casual observers would think that the average recreational vehicle owner would use their rig perhaps 7 days per year when they go on various weekend breaks or a week-long holiday. However, the real figure is closer to 30 days per year. That means that the average RV owner is spending literally one month every year in their vehicle.

Pets are mandatory

Another interesting aspect of people who take RV-based vacations is the fact that pets are essentially mandatory co-pilots. More than half of RV owners say that being able to bring their dog or their other furry friend with them on their holidays is one of the main reasons for setting off in the first place. They want to have fun away from home with their animals and they don’t want to leave them behind.

They are workaholics

Finally, one of the most surprising facts about RV holidays is that they are work-friendly. This is why so many RVers hit the road so often – usually, they’re able to take their work with them. One of the reasons for this is the onboard Wi-Fi systems that many modern vehicles have. Another reason is the fact that half of remote workers say that they’re getting more work done on the road than they do when they’re at home.
