My son is 12 and he and I don’t seem to have a lot of things in common any more. We both like the video games he plays but sometimes, I want something quieter that we can do together for a little bonding time. I’ve been looking for things that weren’t too young for him, but would still be entertaining for us both. We like building things and that gave me an idea. He loves Transformers and Hasbro has these really cool sets of KRE-O Transformers that you can build. PERFECT!

There are really large sets like the Destruction Site Devasator ($79) for ages 8 – 14 and then there are smaller sets like the KRE-O TRANSFORMERS CYCLE CHASE Set ($11) . The smaller sets like the Cycle Chase set and the Decepticon Ambush set are great
for beginning builders, ages 6 & up.  A big set would be perfect under the tree and the smaller sets would make awesome stocking stuffers because they provide your kids with something exciting to
play with once the presents are unwrapped.

Hasbro’s KRE-O Transformers Hasbro’s KRE-O TRANSFORMERS sets let kids build TRANSFORMERS characters in either their robot or vehicle modes – using the same bricks! Each set also comes with fun KREON figures, featuring your favorite
Autobots and Decepticons!

My son and I had a lot of fun putting the pieces together and building our Transformers. It gave us something fun and quiet together and allowed for some mom and son bonding time. Which we desperately needed. We needed time to talk and just be together. And it was awesome!

Some of the pieces are TINY so you’ll want to keep them away from younger kids. This is something for 8 and up ONLY. They are really easy to put together, though, and come with full instructions in diagram form.

The boy had several of the smaller Transformers put together in no time. The bigger sets took some time and that was fine with me. It’s great to have a project that takes some time. Because the pieces are so small, I would recommend not only keeping the boxes they come in, but also using a large tray or cookie sheet to keep them all in one place. Our table is so slick that they rolled off on to the floor. The box is fine, but a nice big tray lets you space them out a little more and makes them easier to sort.

My son said that he really like the KRE-O Transformers and has asked for more for Christmas. He said that are better than a certain competitor brand (L) because are easier to put together and you can arrange them into more characters and structures. The colors are really great too! They are really bright and vibrant. The sets come with TONS of pieces too!

Some awesome tidbits:

  • The Battle for Energon set includes pieces to build two of the most iconic Transformers characters – heroic Optimus Prime and evil Megatron – all in one set!
  • The Destruction Site Devastator set is the ultimate gift for advanced builders ages 8 & up! Kids can build four construction vehicles, four Constructicon robots, or the massive Decepticon robot Devastator!
  • The KREON Micro‐Changers Mystery Bags make a great stocking stuffer. For just $2.99, each Mystery Bag contains a random KREON figure, which can also convert into an alternate mode like a jet or an insect!
