Pregnancy and childbirth are the two most amazing things the human body is capable of. However, they’re also the two most dangerous things anyone could ever go through!

Because of that, going through labor can have a long-lasting effect on your health and wellness. You’ve got a newborn relying on you, of course, but they’re not the only one who matters. You need to be able to take care of your own health too – especially if you want to be able to enjoy the newborn months!

So, more moms need to know how they can take care of themselves – as well as keep an eye out for the troubling symptoms – during this period of life. As such, here’s a few to know about right now.

Incontinence

The pelvic floor most commonly feels different after having a baby. For one thing, you might have done a lot of pushing and straining during your labor. And like any other muscle or muscle group, pelvic floors need time to rest and recover after they’ve been overworked.

As such, it’s common to develop incontinence after childbirth. Your muscles feel weaker, and that can make it harder to hold it until you can reach the toilet. It can also make it a lot easier for things to slip out when you’re just going about your day, such as when you sneeze, cough, or laugh.

You may just need some time to re-strengthen this area, but it never hurts to double check with a doctor or midwife if you’re concerned.

And remember: even though it might feel embarrassing, almost everyone experiences incontinence after having a baby. You’re not alone!

Kidney Stones

Did you know that there’s evidence to suggest that the postpartum period carries a higher risk of kidney stone development? This can last for around a year after you’ve given birth.

And even when someone is pregnant, it’s quite common for a kidney stone to not only develop, but to be big enough to start causing trouble as their body passes it through.

So make sure you take urinary issues as the warning sign they could really be. Shop at pharmacomcare.com for some kidney stone pain relief, and make sure you speak to your doctor the moment you become concerned.

Because if you’re dealing with pain during urination, that’s one thing. But if you also feel pain around the lower back, on either side, it could be a sign that your kidneys are pushing out more than their fair share of waste.

Poor Mental Health

Having a baby can change the way you think and feel. You might be a lot more anxious, or you may feel like you’re the worst parent that’s ever existed.

Both of these feelings need to be talked about. Postpartum anxiety and depression are incredibly common, but that doesn’t mean you should struggle through them alone.

When you’ve had a baby, your mind and body are going to change. Pay attention when things feel off.
