Nutreb Berberine Supplement With BioPerine: Balancing My Blood Sugar

This blog post is a bit all over the place but I’m excited so please bear with me! I’ve been balancing my blood sugar (and blood pressure) with Nutreb Berberine with BioPerine. I’m a huge fan of taking berberine, in general and have really been liking this brand! As many of you know, I try to follow a low glycemic way of eating.

Since I’ve entered perimenopause, many of the things I once did to lose weight, no longer work as well. In fact, after initially losing 50 pounds 6 years ago, I’d gained weight! I’d gained 20 pounds back. Some of that is from 2 years worth of birth control, some is from other medications I had to take for high blood pressure and some is just caused from being in perimenopause.

Let me preface this by stating that I have NOT checked my blood sugar. I don’t have a monitor. I am simply basing this on how I feel after I eat as well as recent blood work at the Dr. If I don’t take Berberine before eating a meal with carbs, I get extremely shaky and light headed after eating and my heart rate goes up significantly. When I do take it 30 minutes before eating, especially a meal with any carbs (fruit, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat bread, potatoes, etc.) I don’t have those symptoms.

I used to think it was my blood pressure spiking but was told by my Dr. that it’s my blood sugar. My A1C was high during last years blood work and she mentioned possible pre-diabetes. This year, it was great. The only thing I really changed during that time, other than new blood pressure and cholesterol meds (moved away from statins) , was beginning a berberine supplement! I began using Berberine (after my Dr. cleared it) when I still wasn’t losing weight and my other numbers were barely lowering.

My triglycerides are still a bit high so I’m working on lowering that more as well. She said that high triglycerides can actually be a sign of high sugar and that I need to lower them more. I had no idea cholesterol and blood sugar were related. However, Berberine can help lower cholesterol, blood sugar AND blood pressure. It can also help with weightloss. So it’s a supplement that I need!

I’ve been taking one specific brand of Berberine for several weeks now: Nutreb Berberine with BioPerine (black pepper). At my last appointment, I’d lost 4 pounds! You guys, the scale had not moved down in over a year so that 4 pounds is amazing! I know initial weight loss is typically water weight. But the scale hasn’t been showing any weight loss in the last year, only gain. So, I’m calling that, plus my better numbers in my blood work a definite win and a sign that this supplement is working to boost my prescription medications.

Because of my previous high blood work numbers for cholesterol, triglycerides, A1C, etc.. I know I still need prescription medications. I’m using Nutreb Berberine along with my prescription medications to help them work better. And it’s working. I don’t get more blood work for 6 months but I know the combination is good for me so I’m sticking with it!

How To Use Nutreb Berberine With BioPerine?

Nutreb Berberine with BioPerine is a natural supplement you take twice per day, 30 minutes before a meal. It comes in gel capsules and you take it with water. I take mine before breakfast and again before supper. I usually take it right before I begin cooking since most of our meals take about 30 minutes to cook.

The taste of the Berberine is mostly masked from the gel cap but you do, occasionally, get the slight bitterness. I haven’t noticed any aftertaste.
