Booze Dogs. What a fun name for a tasty snack! Since I’ve been following THM and a low glycemic lifestyle, I tend to turn to meat sticks for a quick protein filled snack (3 protein snack ideas below). One of my new favorite brands is Booze Dogs alcohol infused meats! And, just to clarify, they’re for humans, not dogs!

What Is Booze Dogs?
Booze Dogs products are human treats with a canine cause. At Booze Dogs, we’re on a mission to kick boredom and loneliness to the curb, both in your meals and your social circle! Our mouthwatering liquor-infused meats, handcrafted in Wisconsin, are the ultimate party starter. Say goodbye to bland gatherings and hello to a deliciously fun time with Booze Dogs at your table! All products include the cleanest ingredient labels with no preservatives, nitrates, or synthetic flavoring.
I’m not gonna lie. When I first heard about Booze Dogs, I thought they were dog treats! Then I realized they are liquor infused meats that were for humans. I was excited to try them for myself and I’m glad I did. They are really good!
There is NO age requirement for Booze Dogs meat sticks. The liquor is minimal and only for flavoring. Think of something like vanilla extract that is also made with alcohol. It’s just flavor and you’re not going to get drunk from eating them.
Now that that’s out of the way, I’ve been sampling the Bourbon infused meat sticks. (P.S. They have more than just meat sticks and flavors also include Rum and Gin!) As a Kentucky girl whose state is home to the Bourbon Capital Of The World, I had to try those first! My only wish is that the products were all beef so Clay could try them too. He has Gout and can’t eat pork. I know that he would love their products!
How Do They Compare?
Some meat sticks leave an awful smoky aftertaste that tends to make me sick to my stomach. These don’t do that! The flavor is mostly just “meat stick”. I don’t get much Bourbon taste but I do get “something”. It’s mild but there’s a noticeable difference in taste compared to the store-bought varieties I’ve tried. In a good way too!
The meat is very tender and the casing is not tough. It’s not overly fatty or greasy but they’re not dry either. My fingers don’t get super greasy from holding one and it doesn’t feel like I’ve coated my mouth with lard after eating it. I’ve also had that experience with other meat sticks and it’s gross. These just taste and feel like a good, quality product.
Mine came 3 to a package. I’m keeping a pack in my bag so I have a protein snack when I’m out and about. I always seem to be out running errands or at Dr. appointments right when it’s time to eat. I end up light headed (even passed out once) and just plain hAngry! That’s not good for anyone!
I get tired of keeping bags of nuts in my purse so these Booze Dogs Liquor Infused Meat Sticks really let me change things up some. Plus, they hit the spot! I now have a pack of Booze Dogs, nuts and some dark chocolate for when hunger hits and I need something quick to hold me over.
More Than Just Meat Sticks
Booze Dogs sells more than just meat sticks. On their website you can find Boozy Bratwurst, Boozy Jerky Style Steak Strips, Boozy Burgers (I’m definitely ordering some of these!) and Boozy Hot Dogs.
3 Simple Protein Snack Ideas:
1. Meat Stick, Cheese Cubes, Olives (or Pickles), Chocolate And Berries
The first of the protein snack ideas is a more full option for when you’re extra hungry. I love snack trays and deli tray type meals and this really fits the bill! It is super easy too. I love to cut my meat sticks into bite sized pieces so I feel like I’m eating more.
Using a bento style box works great for this type of snack/meal. You can place each item in its separate compartment and no juices get on other items. I don’t really want olive or pickle juice on my berries or chocolate.
You can add other items, as well, but my favorites are Booze Dogs Bourbon Infused meat sticks cut into bite sized portions, sugar-free dark chocolate chips by Bake Believe, Lily’s, ChocZero , etc. You can use other sugar-free chocolate chips as well. Dark chocolate just pairs so well with the other foods. I also like to add some green olives or pickles. It really just depends on what I have on hand. Olives feel fancy to me.
Lastly I add some cheese cubes and strawberries. You can use any berry you prefer!
2. Meat Sticks, Hard Boiled Eggs And Berries
When I’m really needing protein, I like to double up on it. So, I’ll have the meat sticks (1 and a half), 2 hard boiled eggs and some fresh berries (about a cup). The berries help cut the fat from all the meat and eggs while providing a few healthy carbs. If I want more carbs in my snack, I’ll use a cup of blueberries instead.
3. Meat Sticks, Nuts, Chocolate
Another of my favorite protein snack ideas is simply the meat sticks, mixed nuts and some sugar-free chocolate. Again, this is such a simple snack with ample protein. Both the nuts and meat sticks provide protein and the chocolate gives me some fats along with extra flavor.
So, there you have it. Those are 3 super simple protein snack ideas that are quick and budget friendly! If you don’t like or are allergic to some of the items I mentioned, change it up! Mix and match and use what YOU like and what you have on hand! The main thing is to keep it simple and filled with healthy fats and low glycemic carbs like berries and seed based crackers. If you’re not concerned about carbs, apple slices, sprouted toast, sweet potato chips, raisins, etc are also great grab-n-go snack options!
