You’ll find Bryant Park very close to Times Square, and compared to the latter, this is a far more calming experience. The park is 9.6 acres in total – a beautiful green space that juxtaposes the imposing skyscrapers surrounding it.
It’s not just a place for nice walks and picnics, though. Bryant Park has plenty of fun activities going on no matter the time or season. There are free outdoor movie nights and unique live performances, and during winter, the park is refashioned into a winter wonderland complete with a village, seasonal market, and even an ice skating rink.

The Roosevelt Island Tramway
If you’re after a particularly novel activity to try, look no further than the Roosevelt Island Tramway. The tramway is a special cable car ride that offers some of the most fantastic views of the city’s skyline you’ll ever see, taking a scenic route from Midtown to Roosevelt Island. The ride only lasts about five minutes, and you can catch the tram from 59th Street and Second Avenue.
There’s also plenty to take in at Roosevelt Island once you reach your destination, such as the Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park and the beautiful waterfronts. It barely costs anything either, and you can use your standard MetroCard for the ride making it a no brainer!
