Come Enjoy Some Labor Day Snow Play At Ober Gatlinburg!

Oooh y’all! Snow day fun is coming early to Ober Gatlinburg this year with their Labor Day Snow Play event! Make snowmen, snow castle, have a snowball fight, etc. What a perfect way to cool off in this hot, summer weather! Clay and I try to visit Ober, at least, once per year. We will be visiting again this year, but not in time for this Snow Play event. It’ll be later in the year for us and we can’t wait! But I wanted to let you know about this fun event in case you’re in the area Labor Day weekend!

Where: Ober at the bottom of Ober’s Tubing Park

What:  This year’s Labor Day Weekend weather forecast is calling for snow at Ober Gatlinburg!  Ober Gatlinburg is turning on their Snowm@gic Snow System and cooling guests off for Labor Day Snow Play.

Snow Play will take place at the bottom of Ober’s Tubing Park and admission into the snow area is free for all ages. Guests will be able to make snowmen and snow castles, toss a snowball, and play in mounds of snow as we bid farewell to summer and welcome the cooler temperatures of Fall.

On Saturday, August 31, singer/guitarist Nygel Bounds will also be playing a free concert from 1:00 – 5:00 PM near the designated Snow Play area.

Ober Gatlinburg’s Tubing Hill is serviced by a refrigerated snow making system called Snow Magic, which can produce snow at above freezing temperatures. Unlike the traditional ski slope snow-making system (wide coverage and air temperature dependent), the Snow Magic machines put out an already frozen “snow product” which looks, feels and behaves the same as natural snowfall. This means the snow conditions can be “controlled” to a point, allowing Ober Gatlinburg to host a fun snow-filled summer event and allow a planned opening date for Snow Tubing this year on November 23, 2019. 

All of Ober Gatlinburg’s Summer Activities are in full swing including the NEW Summer Tubing, Ski Mountain Coaster, Alpine Slide, Wildlife Encounter, Scenic Chairlift, Water Raft Rides, Amaze’n Maze, Mini-Golf, Rock Wall, Chair Swing and Kiddie Land and Kiddie Rides outside as well as the Ice Bumper Cars, Ice Skating, Carousel, Shopping and Dining inside.
