It’s almost time for Ober Gatlinburg’s 10th Annual OktOBERfest celebration, y’all! I’m super excited. Clay and I have visited Ober Gatlinburg ,in the fall, the last few years and are looking forward to attending again this year. There are some new additions to OktOBERfest this year and I can’t wait to check them out! (see below for more info)

Ober Gatlinburg's 10th Annual OktOBERfest celebration

Ober Gatlinburg has fun for the entire family with activities ranging from an Alpine Slide, to a Mountain Coaster to a chair lift up to a scenic view from Mt. Harrison. Plus more.

OktOBERfest is fun for the entire family but we choose to take advantage of it for our Anniversary trip. There is pleny of Bavarian-style cuisine. The stuffed cabbage rolls are on my list. I’ve had them once before and they are tasty!

There’s also a beer garden ( Biergarten ) for some tasty fall beer on tap. I like the pumpkin varieties and Angry Orchard. There’s something about an apple beer on tap along with a salty pretzel that is so refreshing!

New this year is Ober’s Glühwein Cart, a traditional homemade mulled wine served warm in a souvenir mug shaped as a boot. I am really looking forward to trying that!

The 10th annual festival begins Friday, September 27th

Ober Gatliburg OktOBERfest Oompah Band

The 10th annual OktOBERfest event returns with 38 days of merrymaking and fun from September 27th through November 3rd, 2019.  The Smoky Mountain Oompah Band, in authentic costume, will perform popular folk dances with free shows each day during OktOBERfest.  Shows will be held in the Seasons of Ober Restaurant at 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM daily, with additional performances Friday through Sunday at 3:00 PM & 7:00 PM.  Guests may be seated 30 minutes prior to show time and no food or beverage purchase is required. For those in need of festive nourishment, the restaurant menu will feature a variety of OktOBERfest signature dishes, including an assortment of schnitzel, sausage and sauerkraut entrees, stuffed cabbage rolls, and Bavarian pretzels with bier cheese.

Ober’s outdoor Biergarten returns this year, new and improved and larger, at 40’x40,’ featuring a stage with live entertainment. Also new for 2019 is Ober’s Glühwein Cart, a traditional homemade mulled wine served warm in a souvenir mug shaped as a boot. A selection of beers will be offered for those old enough to consume. Brewmasters from area breweries will be also on-hand periodically to discuss and sample their seasonal sips. Guests of all ages can enjoy outdoor games and activities, including inflatable bounce houses, cornhole, face painting, and arts and crafts, making Ober Gatlinburg’s OktOBERfest a fun, family friendly event.

I think I may even get my face painted this year. Who says it’s just for kids, am’I right?
