I’ve worn rectangle prescription eyeglasses for a long time now. I had black ones for years and then burgundy last year. This year, as a fall treat to myself, I decided to update my look and get a new shape of prescription eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses. I teamed up with GlassesShop for 2 new pairs of glasses. I’ve worked with them in the past and I was due for an eye exam so the timing was perfect!

I had gotten tired of the same rectangular glasses style I’d worn for years. I’d do my eye makeup and get it looking pretty decent only for no one to be able to even see it! 🤣 My glasses sat right below my brow line, hiding my upper eyelid. It was wasted makeup at that point.
I wasn’t sure exactly which shape glasses I wanted but I knew I wanted something big. I also wanted something bold but I was a bit too nervous for something that really stood out so I figured I’d take baby steps and just get a bigger pair in a neutral color. I used the try-on tool on several pairs to see how they’d look on me.
I decided to go for a square look this time and I’m quite pleased! I chose a different pair for the prescription sunglasses but they look very similar. Almost identical in shape!
Prescription Eyeglasses

To update my prescription eyeglasses look for fall, and in general, I chose the Acadia Square Champagne Eyeglasses (SKU FP2785). These eyeglasses have a champagne/rose color. They are TR90 plastic frames.

They come with three polarized clip-ons in champagne, black and yellow. The yellow clip-on is suitable for night driving which is great because I have an astigmatism on top of needing bifocals! So that really helps with nighttime glare. I love that the polarized clip-ons provide 100% UV 400 protection to help block harsh UVA and UVB rays. There’s really no need for additional sunglasses because these do the job of both.
Having said that, I really wanted a new pair of prescription sunglasses to wear at the beach or when doing outdoor activities where the clip-on could get knocked off. So I chose a pair with a similar look.
The square glasses are much different than what I’m used to wearing. The rectangle style I was wearing didn’t sit on my cheeks like the square ones so that took some getting used to. Even though they’re bigger than I’m used to wearing I can say that they are amazing for progressive bifocal lenses! I can actually see so much better with these prescription eyeglasses than any I’ve ever worn! They are perfect for my prescription and I couldn’t be happier! No more moving my head up and down or raising and lowering my eyeglasses just to be able to read things up close. These sit perfectly and I can see both far and near.
It’s super easy to upload your prescription when ordering. There is a printable on the site you can download and print to measure your pupillary distance if your prescription doesn’t have that on it. Mine didn’t. After you upload your script, They’ll verify your prescription and then get started on your glasses. Shipping is super quick too.
Prescription Sunglasses

For my prescription sunglasses, I chose the Evanston Square Black Sunglasses with Tinted Gray 80% Lenses (SKU SUP0791). As I mentioned, the shape is very similar, almost identical, to the Acadia Square. I love the size and how much of my eyes they cover. These also are made from TR90 plastic. They are lightweight and comfortable to wear and the gold details give them a classy look. The listing doesn’t say if they offer UVA/UVB protection but I’m assuming they do? I’m honestly not sure about that. I do know they work really well when out in the sun, to keep the sun from my eyes.
Face Shape Tool
If you’re not sure which style of prescription eyeglasses will look best on you, GlassesShop also has a really cool Face Shape tool that tells you the shape of your face so you can pick the perfect look! You just upload a photo and go from there, just like on the try-on section.
What style eyeglasses do you prefer? Do you like oversized glasses like the square one I chose or do you prefer smaller frames? Perhaps you prefer round or rectangle? I still love the way my rectangle prescription eyeglasses look, but I honestly don’t think I’ll ever go back to them. The larger ones just work so much better with my prescription. It’s nice to be able to actually read things without straining again! And, I love that my eyeshadow looks actually show up now! No more wasted makeup. You can actually see my eyes now.
