Disclosure: I received a complimentary pair of prescription glasses to facilitate my review. All opinions are strictly my own and were formed through personal testing of the product. You results may vary.
I’ve been wearing prescription eyeglasses since I was 10 years old and prescription contacts since I was 14. I never go anywhere or do anything without one or the other. I had a pair pf prescription glasses that I absolutely loved but the coating on the lenses rubbed off. They were past their warranty but I didn’t need an eye exam yet so I was a bit out of luck.
I’d finally had enough of the scratched looking lens and decided to try a pair from GlassesShop, an online glasses retailer. They had plenty of cheap glasses to choose from. And by cheap, I mean inexpensive. I only need them to hold me til my next eye exam so they didn’t need to be super sturdy, although that is always a plus. I figured they’d be cheap in design as well but I was happily wrong!
The ordering process is very easy. You do need your existing prescription info so you can enter that into the online order form. You can ask your eye Dr. for a copy of that for free. They have a plugin that lets you upload a photo to “try on” a pair of glasses and see how they will look on you. You can also compare different styles to determine which ones you like the best.
Choose the pair you want, select any options you may need like coatings to reduce glare, etc. and then head to the checkout. Pay and you’re done!
I tried on a couple of different styles and found a pair that was almost identical to my favorite pair I had at home. I chose the Doreen Rectangle in Black. I couldn’t wait to see them in person!
It only took a couple of weeks to get them and when they got here I couldn’t have been more pleased. They may be considered cheap eyeglasses but I can say the quality of the pair I received is anything but cheap. The frames and lenses are really good quality. I just chose standard lenses. I don’t need any additives to them. I just wanted plain old clear lenses. They fit perfectly and the prescription is exact as I entered.
They came in a nice, hard plastic case and were wrapped in a cleaning cloth. The lenses are so crystal clear and my prescription and alignment was right on the money. I can see so much better now that I have a decent pair of glasses. And I love the way they look and fit! I love them so much that I also ordered a pair of prescription sunglasses. I have a review for them coming up next week so stay tuned for that.
GlassesShop has a really cool promotion called First Pair of Glasses Free where you can get your first pair of basic prescription glasses for just the cost of shipping and handling. Of course, if you want extra features like specialized lenses and coatings you’d need to pay for those. But you can get a really great looking pair of prescription eyeglasses for little cost. https://www.glassesshop.com/first-pair
