Remembering 9/11. What Lesson Did You Learn That Day?

Memorial Graphics – Comments

Today the United States of America is remembering 9/11. We only had one child at the time and he was an infant. I was snuggled up on the couch with my son and we were watching “Little House On The Prairie” when the newscast broke in. It was a satellite/cable channel so I knew something horrible was taking place when the news broke in on that type of channel.

It seemed ironic to me that we were watching a show about love, peace and simpler times during the most horrific event to take place in my lifetime. Time literally stopped for many that day. My heart still aches for those that lost loved ones.

True heroes emerged that day. For a brief time, our country returned to the love and community of life like “Little House on the Prairie”. Neighbors came together. Communities helped each other……. Then they forgot.

They didn’t forget the tragedy but they forgot the lesson that we were supposed to learn from that tragedy. No matter what you thought of our President or our Government at the time, we needed to stick together. The same goes for today. My friends on Facebook are ALWAYS posting comments, photos, etc. that mock our President. They make snarky comments about him and talk about how they can’t wait for him to be out office. They make really, harsh judgements about him. And those are the comments from my “Christian” friends!!! No matter what they say today, they did forget! They forgot the lesson we HAD to learn September 11, 2001. Shame on them!!!!!!!

They forgot to put others first. To love our country and those who serve it, even the current President. To love thy neighbor. To protect the children. To be brothers and sisters in Christ. They forgot that as “One Nation Under God”, we stand strong! Even if you’re not a Christian, the message was still clear. Stand together! Work together! Put away racism and discrimination. Be a country united in peace and you can get through anything!!!

God bless you all and may peace forever surround you!
