It’s almost time to decorate for Christmas! OK, some folks already are and I have to admit, I’m really getting in the spirit to decorate. The photo above is one of our brand new tree that we got last Christmas. You may remember me posting about our new Christmas tree.
It is a lot bigger than it looks in the picture. And it’s bigger than our old tree which means we need some new decorations for it. Last year, the backside was pretty bare. I looked online at the Sears Cheer Headquarters but didn’t see exactly what I wanted. Sears has an entire Holiday Cheer section in their store so we headed to our local Sears Christmas Shop to see if we could score some good deals on decorations. I found some really cute decorations and they were all on sale too! Plus, I had a $15 Sears gift card and ended up only paying around $8 for my haul! I have another $15 gift card to give to one of you all too! (giveaway below)
Here’s what we bought:
I found some really cute glass balls and some ornaments that weren’t so ordinary. Pictured above is a 4 pack of red glass balls, Angel, Egg, Hedgehog and Ice Skates. You may be thinking why in the world I bought a hedgehog? Well I’ll tell you in a minute. There is a reason behind it.
My husband really liked the red glass balls with the pine tree trim. I fell in love with the egg. Eggs aren’t something I usually think of to decorate my Christmas tree with but it is decorated to pretty. It is sort of a champagne color and the green and red really stands out in person.
I thought the Angel was really pretty. They had some that were an antique white, some with more red and these. I think this one will show very nicely on our tree. I also loved the ice skates. I think they are so darling and they came in a pair which is great.
And last, but certainly not least, our beloved little hedgehog. There is a reason I bought this. When I saw it I knew immediately that I wanted it for our family ornament that we buy each year and put the date on.
When we went to Tennessee in October, we visited this ranch called the Circle G Ranch in Strawberry Plains, Tennessee. It is a drive-thru safari with camels, emu’s, water buffalo, zebra, etc. You drive through it and you can purchase buckets of feed to toss to the animals as they come right up to your car! I have a whole blog post coming this week devoted to this fun ranch. (Hubby got kissed by a water buffalo!)
Anyway, in the barn under a warming lamp was a bin of straw. And in that bin, barely noticeable were these tiny little hedgehogs. I couldn’t believe how small they were fully grown. The man help one of them up for us to see and pet. It was so cute I couldn’t stand it! I wanted to bring it home with me. Of course, i couldn’t. But we were able to pet it and love on it. It’s name is Sonic and my whole family fell in love. So when I saw the little hedgehog ornament, I knew right away that it was going to be our family ornament for 2012! And it will hang front and center on our tree to remind us of Sonic at the Circle G Ranch.
Isn’t he the cutest?
