Our son is a fish eater. Clay and I are not so much. Clay does like fish but he never orders it out or asks for it at home. He will eat it at someones house, fish fry, etc. Me… I’m allergic. So that rules that out. That doesn’t mean, however, that I won’t fix it for our son. He loves fish so he shouldn’t be deprived just because his dad and I don’t eat it. One thing that makes it easier to give him fish is to buy frozen fish, like fish sticks. The problem is that they are usually fried and greasy.
There is a new products from Gorton’s called Gorton’s Smart & Crunchy. It is baked, never fried so it isn’t greasy and soggy. The breading is still really crunchy though. Our son tried the Gorton’s Smart & Crunchy fish sticks for lunch one day and said that they were really good. The meat inside, Alaska Pollock, is tender and flaky and the outside really is crispy.
These fish sticks aren’t pre-cooked. They are raw so you need to let them cook until they reach temperature. Then you can serve them as is or in a recipe. He tried them just as they are with some potato chips on the side. He ate every one. If I could eat fish, I’d definitely try these! They look really good.
There are several recipes available on the Gorton’s site if you like to spruce your fish up a little. There are things like Parmesan Primavera and Tex-Mex Salad. I never thought to pair fish sticks, patties or fillet’s with anything other than cole-slaw, corn and hush puppies. Parmesan Primavera? Sounds good. Look at the photo below of what Parmesan Primavera with Gorton’s Smart & Crunchy Fish Sticks looks like. It looks delicious!
I could only find the fish sticks at one store. They carry the fillet’s but were sold out so I”m only writing about the Gordon’s Smart & Crunchy Fish Sticks today. You can see what the packaging looks like in the photos below.
