Gift Idea: Minecraft Story Mode

My kids love playing Minecraft and were very excited to hear about the release of Minecraft Story Mode. Many kids and teens and even adults have video games on their wish list and Minecraft Story Mode would make a great Christmas gift!

According to my son, this differs from the regular Minecraft video game in that the camera is more focused around the player. So, more of a third person view.

We received a free game to try out for review. All opinions are our own.

Minecraft: Story Mode is decision based and gives you options to choose to direct the story. In regular Minecraft, it is just an open world sandbox game. The kids like that you can choose the path the story takes. There are several “skins” to choose from, in both male and female.

The graphics are the same as the traditional Minecraft game. The gameplay is different in that you move your character separate from the cursor. In the actual Minecraft you walk but turn with the cursor so it’s your point of view, although you can change the point of view some. That’s different in Story Mode. My son said your point of view is more like from the back of the character. It’s easy to navigate and fun to play.

Minecraft Story Mode

Overall he really likes this game and agrees it would be a great gift for any Minecraft fan.

Minecraft Story Mode

The five part episodic series sets you in the world of Minecraft, but introduces new characters and familiar themes, building an entirely original Minecraft experience inspired by the game. You drive the story through the decisions you make: what you say to people (and how you say it), and what you choose to do in moments of thrilling action will make this YOUR story!

Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Games Series – Episode 1: ‘The Order of the Stone’ is rated ‘E10+’ (Everyone 10+) for Fantasy Violence and Mild Language
