Old Factory Candles are being recommended in our 2014 Holiday Gift Guide.
I love burning candles, especially during the cold fall and winter months. Even though you don’t get a lot of additional heat from a candle, there is just something so warming and cozy about candlelight. I’ve been testing out a gift set by Old Factory Candle. I chose the Winter Wonderland set.The Winter Wonderland set includes three scents:
- Hot Cocoa
- Roasted Chetsnut
- First Snow
I was torn between that, Fall Harvest, Coffee Shop and Man Cave. All the scent descriptions sound amazing and I had a really hard time picking just one set.
How Do They Burn?
Made in the USA, each hand poured, all natural soy candle is just 2 ounces, which seems a bit small. But when you burn them, they last and last! They are said to have a total burn time of 20 hours. I burned the First Snow scented candle all day and it lasted for 13 hours before the wick burned out.
How Do They Smell?
In my opinion, each candle smells amazing. My favorite is the Hot Cocoa, followed by Roasted Chestnut and then First Snow. But I really enjoyed all three. The Hot Cocoa candle is very true to scent. It has the most pleasant cocoa smell. It smelled so true, in fact, that I had to go make myself a mug of hot cocoa because I started craving it!
I’ve never smelled roasting chestnuts so I can’t attest to how true the scent it. But I can say that it smells really nice. It has a very light nutty scent with sort of cherry finish. It reminds me of Amaretto syrup.
The First Snow candle has a nice, crisp, clean scent finishing off with a hint of pine. I was a bit concerned when I started burning this candle because of my migraines. Pine tends to really set them off. But the First Snow candle did not bother me AT ALL! I burned it all day to test our burn time and it did great!
All three have really good scent throw. They didn’t overpower me senses and I even burned all three to see how they smelled together. The combination was wonderful! It made my house smell like Christmas morning when you are preparing your big meal and all those amazing fragrances mingle together. It was wonderful.
$25 for three 2 ounce candles might seem a bit pricey, but considering how good they smell and how well they burn, the price is actually a really good deal. I would definitely buy these again and will probably get a few as gifts.
They would make really great gifts and because they are sold on Amazon, you can add in gift wrapping for around $3 and have them wrapped and shipped directly to your recipient. Plus, if you have Amazon Prime, like we do, your shipping would be free. That makes it an even better deal!
