Fireworks, sparklers, backyard cookouts, camping, swimming, marshmallows and S’Mores on the bonfire. These are all the things my family looks forward to during the 4th of July. This year we had the pleasure of visiting Gatlinburg, Tennessee for the long 4th of July weekend. We headed down to see their big “First of the Nation” parade and fireworks. It was rainy and hot but so much fun!
We spent July 3rd in Gatlinburg. All day. Like 12 – 13 hours all day. We wanted to watch the parade that happens at midnight so we had to make sure we had a parking spot and a good place to watch the parade. So we got there early and just hung out on the strip all day. It was crowded but not overbearingly so.
It rained off and on all day. And during the parade. Overall we had a great day, though. The kids had never been to a parade and they got to stay up late. We ate at a restaurant and bought some glow sticks and light up 4th Of July accessories. So it was fun, despite the heat and the rain.
Speaking of the heat…
Another thing that July brings, especially in the south, is sweltering heat! Also, some of my medicines are beginning to make me sweat pretty badly. So I knew I’d be suffering from that already, regardless of temps. Of course, we were hot all day and then freezing from getting rained on at night. I’m a makeup wearer and the heat can melt your makeup right off your face. And the rain will wash it off. I sure didn’t want to walk the Gatlinburg strip looking like a melting wax figure! So I found some products to try that would help including SKINDINAVIA Makeup Primer Spray and SKINDINAVIA Finishing Spray.
The primer spray was to help with large pores and keep makeup from settling into creases and the finishing spray is to set the makeup and also keep it looking great all day. 16+ hours! So those are the two beauty must have’s I took on our trip along with my regular makeup.
Here’s my makeup at the beginning of the day:
I started by applying sunscreen and then spritzing the SKINDINAVIA Makeup Primer Spray on my face. I let it dry and then began applying my makeup. I wanted my skin to be able to breathe while looking natural so I used my favorite mineral makeup in place of a heavy foundation. I used a little highlighter beneath my eyes, bronzer lightly brushed around the areas where I would naturally tan (if I tanned), blush to give me some color and then eyeliner, mascara and a little bit of eyeshadow. It was quite a bit of makeup but with a light touch.
SKINDINAVIA Makeup Primer Spray
The first silicone-free makeup spray primer on the market. Silicone is so slippery it can actually make your makeup “pool” into pores.
I finished with the SKINDINAVIA Makeup Finishing Spray. I spritzed it on in a “T” and then an “X” formation. It didn’t make my mineral makeup run either. Or my eyeliner and mascara. Everything stayed perfect. Oh, I applied the primer spray int he same way as the finishing spray too. I let it dry and then set out for the Gatlinburg Strip and the 4th of July activities.

The first thing I noticed was that when applying it, it is pretty wet but dries fairly quickly. I didn’t have any stinging or irritation. In fact, it felt pretty good on my skin. Refreshing! My mineral makeup went on perfectly after using the SKINDINAVIA Makeup Primer Spray. It didn’t settle heavily or create creases. It was smooth and even. There’s no odor to the sprays so they didn’t bother me with any heavy fragrance.
The other thing I noticed is that my face felt good throughout the day. My makeup was light but the SKINDINAVIA Makeup sprays seemed to help keep my face cool all day. It has a patented Temperature Control Technology® that actually helps keep the makeup surface cool. It really works too! My makeup never did run down my face or smear. It looked great all day!
And here’s my makeup at the end of the day. Poor Clay was worn out!
With both products the 4oz size will last about 90 days of daily use and 8oz size about 180 days.
I’m happy to say that, although we were worn out from a long, hot, rainy day, we had a great time and the heat and sweat didn’t make my makeup run off. The SKINDINAVIA products I tried saved the day as far as my makeup staying in place. I love these products! And the parade was rainy but was still a big hit!

- Start with a fresh clean, dry face.
- Apply sunscreen
- Apply SKINDINAVIA Makeup Primer before applying makeup
- Wear light, loose powdery makeup like mineral makeup versus heavy foundation
- Finish your look with SKINDINAVIA Makeup Finishing Spray
Extra tips:
- Carry SKINDINAVIA Makeup Finishing Spray in your purse to spritz once or twice throughout the day. To refresh!
- Carry a small, portable battery fan if it is super hot and sunny.
- Oil blotting towelettes help remove sweat and grime without taking up a lot of space
