I am the mother of a teenager. I almost can’t believe it even when I say it out loud. Or read it in this blog post. But I am. I have a teenage son with a teenage boy’s appetite. RAVENOUS!
He is skinny as a rail but can eat us out of house and home. When we are busy and on the go doing after school events, or when our teenage son is out laying basketball with his buddies, I need a meal that I can feed to my teenage son and his buddies when they are playing basketball and/or rushed for time. Somethingquick and easy that can match their teenage appetite and not break the ban
I found something that fits all three of those requirements. Tyson Chicken Fries to the rescue! #ChickenFryTime. They are white meat, breaded chicken tenders in the size ans shape of french fries. So they are perfect for a quick meal and can be eaten while on the run, although we do try to make it a sit down meal and add some vegetables to the meal whenever possible.
I found the Tyson Chicken Fries at our local Sam’s Club in a large 3.5 lb bag which means there are plenty for all the hungry teenagers. And the price is super reasonable. The 3.5 bag is only $9.98. I’m a busy mom. I love to cook but I don’t always have time to fix a large meal. Now, we’re not as busy as some families out there. We do get to enjoy table meals as a family. But for the times, we don’t, I need a quick solution. And when half the family is running out the door for an event, there is no point in cooking a ton of food. Tyson is making my life as a mom so much easier with all these easy to prepare products!
I mentioned above, though, that I do try to add some great extras to the mix when we are able to actually sit down and enjoy our quick meals. One night in particular I fixed tater tots in the oven so they were a little healthier. I also fixed corn on the cob and a salad. I made some yummy dipping sauces to go with the chicken. 3 sauces actually (recipes below). A cool basic Ranch, a Honey Mustard and a Spicy Jalapeno for those that like some kick to their sauce. The Tyson Chicken Fries were really quite tasty. They were a little peppery and really good. The teens were filled up and ready to roll.
My son said that he really loved the taste and the size of the Tyson Chicken Fries. So I’d say they were a huge hit with the boys!
They come in a resealable bag so you can take out the amount you need and put the rest back into the freezer for another meal.
They are super easy to prepare too. They are fully cooked, so all you have to do is heat them in a 400 degree oven for about 15 minutes and they are ready to serve to all those hungry teens. Or to your son’s buddies and the rest of the entire family. There’s 6 of us and then he has teenage buddies and a teen cousin so needless to say that big bag from Sam’s really comes in handy!
When they are good and hot, dish up some homemade dipping sauces, place it all on a plate and let the teens have at it. They will have a quick, easy, protein-packed meal in less than 30 minutes. Even the corn on the cob takes less than 30 minutes boiled in a pan of water on the stove or tossed in the microwave. The tater tots took about 20 minutes too so it was ALL done in under 30 minutes.
I’ve added recipes for our three favorite dipping sauces below. Two are fairly spicy and the third is mild and cool. They are super easy to make up, can be saved in the refrigerator for a few days so they are perfect for making ahead of time and go GREAT with a variety of different foods!
The Ranch dip is super easy and only uses two ingredients. The Honey Mustard is a spicier take on an old favorite and the Spicy Jalapeno is perfect for chicken.
