I recently had the opportunity to try out the Wildgrain Bread Subscription Box and it is amazing! It has so much REAL sourdough bread. By real, I mean, well, real. Wildgrain uses a sourdough starter made from wild caught yeast, and not added yeast. #WildgrainReviewToday #AD

What Is Sourdough Bread
Sourdough is naturally leavened bread, which means it doesn’t use commercial yeast to rise. Instead, it uses a ‘starter’ – a fermented flour and water mixture that contains wild yeast and good bacteria – to rise. This also produces the tangy flavour and slightly chewy texture you’ll find in sourdough.

The Wildgrain subscription box comes with 3 loaves of par-baked sourdough bread in a variety of flavors, 4 croissants, 2 fresh pastas and a special baked good. The October box that I received had the following:
- Plain Sourdough loaf
- Rosemary Garlic Sourdough loaf
- Cranberry Pecan bread
- Croissants
- Fettuccine pasta
- Tonnarelli pasta
- Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls as the special item.
The first thing I baked were the Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls, for my kids breakfast. They wanted a sweet treat and they got one! These Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls are delicious! I tasted one and the flavor is phenomenal. Not to mention, the smell. While they were baking my house smelled like a bakery and my mouth watered the entire time! I couldn’t wait to try one!

The next thing I baked was the Rosemary Garlic bread. Oh. My Gosh! The rosemary flavor is so good! There are little bits of rosemary and roasted garlic throughout too! (SO GOOD!) I don’t think you can see in the photo I took. I’ll look through my pictures again and see if I can find one with more detail to add to this post. In the meantime, just look at the crumb of this bread.

I’m saving the Cranberry Pecan for Thanksgiving. I want everyone to get to enjoy it together.
We’ll have the plain sourdough this week for sandwiches and the croissants with the fettuccine. I haven’t tried the pastas yet but they are on the menu for this week. In hindsight, I wish I’d saved the Rosemary Garlic bread to have with the pasta! The idea of the taste wasn’t computing in my brain for some reason. It would be incredible served alongside a good baked pasta dish.
About Wildgrain
Wildgrain is the first bake-from-frozen membership for real sourdough breads, artisanal pastries, and/or fresh pastas. The bread goes from freezer to table in 25 minutes or less. They offer FREE US shipped with dry ice for every box. Mine also had an additional ice pack inside and everything was still frozen when it arrived. You can reschedule, skip or cancel whenever you need.
You can choose the Mixed Box or the Bakery Box. Once you’re a member, you can substitute items in your member dashboard.
The items are vegetarian but are not vegan or gluten free.
I’ve made sourdough bread in the past. For me, keeping up with my starter proved to be too much work. I didn’t make enough sourdough baked goods to keep it going. (I do have some starter frozen for if/when I want to try again).
For now, I really love being able to go to my freezer, grab a loaf of real sourdough bread and in less than 30 minutes, have hot, fresh, steamy bread on the table! This bread subscription box works for me and I love it!
