Woo hoo! It’s National Shrimp Day! I don’t, personally love, seafood, but I do eat it some. And, since it’s National Shrimp Day, I may have a piece or 2. It rained all weekend so we didn’t get to do our Mother’s Day Shrimp Boil I mentioned the other day. It was cold and nasty outside so Clay made his delicious chili instead. It was good but not the awesome Boil I was looking forward to. We will do that pretty soon though. Everybody is looking forward to it. In the meantime, our youngest asked for shrimp today so we cracked open a bag of our wild caught Gulf shrimp we got from ButcherBox and grilled some up!
You won’t get it in time for National Shrimp Day but if you’re in the mood for free shrimp for a year, check out this awesome deal I have for you – this week only!
New ButcherBox members will receive 1lb Free in EVERY box for a year! #ButcherBoxPartner
What could be better than free shrimp? You can go all Forrest Gump and do coconut shrimp, shrimp scampi, fried shrimp, grilled shrimp, garlic shrimp, shrimp and grits, buttered shrimp….. I could go on! 🤣
Doesn’t this look incredible! 🍤
We go to Bubba Gump’s from time to time and I do love their seafood hushpuppies. They have shrimp in them! I think I might try to re-create them with some of the shrimp we have. They are so good!
If you’re intimidated by cooking shrimp, don’t be! It’s super easy. Here’s how to cook your free shrimp:
Thaw:
According to the FDA, the best way to thaw seafood is to do it gradually byplacing it in the refrigerator overnight. To thaw seafood quickly, seal it in a plastic bag and immerse it in cold water.
How to Cook:
Heat a sauté pan with your favorite cooking oil on medium-high heat. Place shrimp in the pan and cook for 2 minutes on each side, until flesh is pearly or white, and opaque. For best results, do not overcook. As ButcherBox Head Chef Yankel Polak says, “Shrimp is one of my favorite things to cook, and it’s incredibly simple to prepare perfectly”.
