In a series of posts I’ve been working on lately I’ve been testing out some products from Amara Organics including their Eye Gel, Hyaluronic Acid Serum and now their Retinol Serum.
Retinol is the #1 dermatologist-recommended anti-aging ingredient for a reason, because it works! Retinol works on a molecular level to repair skin and stimulate collagen, resulting in firmer, smoother, wrinkle-free skin. Speeds up skin cell turnover, fading discoloration and improving texture to give your skin a healthy glow. One dermatologist revealed she can always tell when patients have been using Retinol because their face has that telltale glow.
I began using all 3 products last week and I have seen some results. As mentioned in previous posts in this series, I use the Amara Organics Eye Gel beneath my eyes twice a day, the Hyaluronic Acid Serum to my face, neck and décolletage area before applying makeup and the Retinol Serum to those same areas every night. I also use a sunscreen during the day. Retinol increases sun sensitivity and I’m really fair skinned anyway so I always make sure I use sunscreen.
The Retinol Serum is clear. Like the Hyaluronic Acid Serum, it is thinner than a gel but does have just the tiniest amount of stickiness to it. It rubs in pretty easily and after a few minutes the stickiness is gone. I only notice a small amount of tingling with it. Almost like a cooling feeling for a few seconds and then it is gone. There’s not really an odor to it and my skin feel really nice after it’s rubbed in.
What I noticed most from using the Amara Organics Retinol Serum is that my breakouts have cleared up. Do to hormone changes, I’ve been having some small pimples appearing on my face. Since I’ve been using the Amara Organics products, the acne seems to be gone. I was hoping that the blotchiness on my face is was getting more even. It’s not actually acne scars. It’s more just like really uneven skin tone on one side along with some tiny spider-like veins. I, personally, think it is from sunburns on that side throughout the years.
After the first week, It looked like the redness was going to go away but as you can see in the week 2 photo it seems to have spread out. I’m wondering if it will continue to do that until it is actually gone? Perhaps that is how it is creating a more even skin tone. I’m not sure but I’ll continue to use it for 2 more weeks and see if I notice any more changes. It’s not irritation from what I can tell. There’s not itching or burning. The redness is just changing. And I can’t tell, yet, if it changing for the better. But we’ll see!
I also noticed that the really large pores on my cheekbone are a lot smaller. My face does tend to feel oilier throughout the day since I’ve been using the Amara Organics Hyaluronic Acid but I think that is due to the fact that it is pulling oil from my pores and cleansing them. That is something else I’ll be checking on in a couple of weeks.
