Family Movie Night With The Jungle Book: Rumble in the Jungle

The Hubby, kids and I regularly enjoy family movie night. Because the ages range so much (3, 6, 9, 13, 35) sometimes it gets hard to find a movie that the entire family will enjoy. The latest in our Family Movie Night Quest is The Jungle Book: Rumble in the Jungle.

First, I’d like to say that this isn’t the same Jungle Book that I grew up with. Sure, it is the same characters, but Mowgli and the gang have different accents and Baloo is wearing glasses and is a bit… um.. brainy. He was sort of street-wise in the older version, as I recall. Either way, it is still a pretty good movie. The animation and the characters are lovely and we all enjoyed the movie very much!

A family movie night isn’t complete unless you have salty snacks and junk food. Come on moms, it’s once or twice a month, then back to healthy goodies. Seriously, we have a basket full of Cuties on the counter and fruit in the fridge at all times. The junk is rare. Where was I? Oh yeah, junky snacks for movie night. We loaded up the tray and everyone had a small bowl. One box of each was split among 6 of us so it’s not like we were eating tons anyway. Mostly, we ate the popcorn and split the sodas. And I don’t think much even made it into their mouths. They were too busy enjoying the movie. At one point  I noticed that one of my younger daughters had nibbled all the candy coating off an M&M and the chocolate was stuck on my pants leg. What the heck? Anyway,  it was a fun night.

Along with great snacks, when we have movie night, we all like to snuggle up on the couch or floor with blankets, sleeping bags and pillows. We have dark red curtains in the family room that block light and make it more of a theater feel. So we turn out the lights and close the drapes and really enjoy the movie.

We actually received an advanced copy and some cute Mowgli masks. The kids had so much fun with the masks and the figurines that some in the DVD. Be sure to check it out. The movie was released yesterday. (Feb 12, 2013) Thanks to computer issues, I’m a few days behind. I meant to post this last week but we had the flu and then my old computer’s hard drive crashed and I had to wait to get a new one. Sorry about that.

I just love family movie night! If you also have movie night with the family, I think that, especially if you have kids, The Jungle Book: Rumble In The jungle will be a super choice for you!
