How To Capture Moments With A Free Online Movie Maker

Clay and I have been married for nearly 20 years. We have been “Clay & Crystal” for 25! We met in middle school, started dating in high school and have been together ever since. We’ve taken a boat load of photos and made a ton of memories in the last 25 years. I want to capture those moments in a way that we can look at and remember them together and I’ve done so with a free online movie maker.

Kizoa - Free Online Movie Maker

Content

For our upcoming 20th anniversary, I’ve teamed up with the folks at Kizoa to show you how an online movie maker/ movie editor can help you gather all your photos and videos into one place and create a masterpiece keepsake! They gifted me a premium subscription for my anniversary to let me really get in there and try things out but you can use the site for free too!

I made a really quick, short video using one of their pre-made, editable templates just to show you how you can make something really sweet in a short amount of time. Once I had my photos gathered it only took me about 15 minutes to put this together!

I do with I could turn off auto-play but I don’t see a function to do that. The volume is muted, by default, so if you want to hear the background music, click on the sound icon on the right of the video to remove the “x”.

I want to see if I can add snippets from our actual wedding to it, like each of us saying I Do!

The music, backgrounds, effects and transitions are available right in the movie editor so it was really simple to put together. Once I was done, I was able to grab the embed code for this post, right from the editor. I could also download it, burn it to DVD, upload it to YouTube and share it online right then and there as well. Some of these options are available depending on your membership level. The free, basic account lets you email, share to social, blogs, etc. but not burn to DVD. The movie I made was saved to my account so I can go back and work on it more or share it later.

I have been gathering all the photos from our last 25 years together and am working on an even bigger project. The one above it just a short one to show you a little of what you can do. I want to show memories from when we were dating all the way through our wedding, having kids til now. I think this is going to be such a great 20th wedding anniversary gift for him!

Kizoa is making it so easy to get this done too. With their movie maker editor all I have to do is either pick a pre-made template to edit and customize or start one from scratch. Both are easy but for beginners I recommend the templates. You can add or remove any of the pre-existing elements, change the music, upload your own photos, add your own text, etc.

The one I used had some text in there already like “I Love You” in Italian and French. I changed that to the dates you see like for our Prom and wedding. The hands making the heart was already there and I think it fit nicely for our theme.

You can upload your photos and videos, or choose from the demos, and then drag them to the storyboard. There are tabs across the top that you click on for additions to your movie including:

  • Photos
  • Transitions
  • Effects
  • Text
  • Animations
  • Music
  • Settings

So basically the steps showing you how to capture moments with a free online movie maker go a little something like this:

  1. Create your free Kizoa account
  2. Gather all your photos and video from your computer OR your Facebook photos
  3. Upload them to your account
  4. Choose a template or start from scratch
  5. Drag photos to timeline/storyboard
  6. Add effects, music, etc
  7. Save, share, etc.

Boom y’all! That’s it!

I love that I can take all my photos from birthdays, our wedding, first days of school, milestones like first lost tooth, etc. and create movies from them. I don’t have to have “forty-leven” (it’s a word 🙂 ) photo albums laying around the house collecting dust. We rarely go through our albums. Instead, I can make videos and slideshows or even collages that I can frame. I can also make them for the grandparents and aunts and uncles and give them as Christmas gifts!

You can also make collages. You can make traditional static collages to print and frame or animated ones to share online!

I made an animated one using some of our fall leaf and pumpkin photos from last year and a template that was available in the collage maker. I love the animation!

For gift giving, you can also order gifts like prints, mugs, etc!

*Cool Note* – Students and teachers of all levels can receive a FREE Premium VIDEO membership to use Kizoa for educational use!

So, if you’re looking for a quick and easy way to do video editing with an online movie maker or to capture all those precious family memories, Kizoa is a great site with free options to help you!

The premium pro version would make a fantastic gift!
