We had a sudden loss in our family this year, around Thanksgiving, which added to the sense of oddness to the final months of this year. Sadness coupled with the “what to do’s” made it just feel strange.

Add to that, our family dynamic is changing as our kids are getting older. Christmas is just different. Not in a bad way. And not anything we don’t expect as parents, but, just different. You know?

Ok, so enough of the melancholy. While we did lose a beloved family member this year, the other parts of the year were actually pretty great.

We had new loved ones come to visit and travel with us. Our kids have significant others that we, too, have fallen dearly in love with. Getting to spend time with all of them, as a family, was wonderful! I love seeing my children grow and watching their lives be unwrapped like gifts.

The Martin Family didn’t travel too much this year but we did get to some. We were blessed to be able to save up and take our annual summer trip. And we went somewhere new-to-us for summer vacation. We visited Florida and spent a day at Clearwater Beach. We’d never been there before and we all loved it! The was was gorgeous!

Clay and I didn’t take our annual anniversary trip again this year. We didn’t have the money so we didn’t really do much. He did take me out to each which was really nice. Earlier this year, we took a Valentine’s weekend getaway and claimed that as a belated Anniversary trip as well. That was nice! Just the 2 of us for some rest and relaxation.

Money is tight for everyone. Prices are ridiculous right now and folks are barely getting by. When we’re lucky enough to save up to take a little weekend trip, either just the 2 of us or whith our kids, we do it! You have to find small ways to keep your sanity in the hullabaloo of this old world.

With all that said, I wanted to give you all a small gift that I give every year. I have some printable 2024 glasses photo props, for New year’s Eve, for you to print and enjoy. For free – minus the cost of your paper and ink, of course.

Each year we print these fun photo props, fire up the karaoke, set out some yummy appetizers or order pizza. I buy some non-alcoholic sparkling cider for the kids, wine and cocktails for the adults and ring in the new year with our kids and close family. Guests are invited to throw down some air mattresses and spend the night. It’s festive, fun and safe. New Year’s Day, we’ll ring in the new year with black eyed peas and cabbage. That is a tradition my mother-in-law loves so we do it each year.

As for the photo prop glasses, I try to make a new set each year. I love having photo props for Instagram photos and parties. It adds so much fun and gets everyone in the festive mood! I hope you like them and can use them too!
