June is wedding season and with that comes folks from all around looking for romantic honeymoon packages. Some love the beach and some love the mountains. I might not know many romantic places to stay on the beach, yet, but I sure can show you where to stay for your honeymoon in the Smoky Mountains!
It’s no secret how much Clay and I adore the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. We go as often as humanly possible, with or without the kids. And sometimes with our entire extended family! We love those gorgeous mountains with all their flora and fauna. When it’s time for a romantic getaway for 2, that’s where we go and that’s where we recommend. And we go as a couple, we always stay in a smoky mountain cabin!
I have a ton of photos in a slider below!
We received a complimentary stay or discount as a thank you for sharing about our trip. No monetary compensation was received and all opinions are strictly our own. If I didn’t like something, I’ll tell you.
One of our favorite places to rent through is Auntie Belham’s Cabin Rentals. There is a handful of places we’ll rent through if Auntie Belham’s is booked up but we always start there first in our quest for a cabin the Smoky Mountains.
Romantic Getaways In The Smoky Mountains
On our most recent trip to Gatlinburg we were fortunate enough to make it a romantic trip. Just the two of us went and we stayed in the 2 Peas In A Pod cabin. While this cabin isn’t as secluded as Bear’s Den that we’ve stayed in several times, it is fairly private once you’re inside and perfect for a couples getaway. And it is beautiful!
2 Peas In A Pod is a one bedroom cabin rental. It has one bath, kitchen and living area. This cabin has pool table which Clay loved. He played a little each night.
It also has a hot tub which is amazing to soak in after long walks up and down the steep Gatlinburg Strip or hiking in the Smoky Mountains. We took a little scenic drive through the Roaring Forks Motor Trail and we always like to get out and walk around the old, historic cabins, the creek and do a little hiking. By the end of the day my legs and feet are killing me so that hot tub is a God send!
Here are a few photos from our day visiting Roaring Forks Motor trail. I have a post coming up showcasing our visit there. The day was sunny and bright and the views were amazing!
There are several historic cabins and houses that you can explore along this motor trail. I can’t remember the name of this particular family but this was a fully functioning farm. This is the inside of the house but you can hike back to the barn, corn fields and old mill. It is is beautiful throughout the entire area!
Towards the end of the Roaring Forks Motor Trail you will pass by a small, old mill that sits in front of an old house. The mill is on one side of the road along the creek. I’ll post photos of the mill in another post but I wanted to show you how beautiful the creek was that day. It was full and rolling and the sound was so peaceful and relaxing. I could have sat on the rocks and listened to that water all day!
Ok, enough of our day in the woods. Back to our cabin. 😀 I mentioned that it isn’t super secluded yet it is still private. Let me explain. This cabin sits at the end of a cul-de-sac and there is one cabin that sits right next to one end of 2 Peas In A Pod as well as a few others in the area. So their hot tub overlooks one side deck. But the front door along with another deck and the hot tub face the mountains so you have total privacy. And once inside we never heard a peep from our neighbors or had any issues with privacy. It was a very romantic destination.
We mostly eat out when it is just the two of us. It’s much easier to check out the local restaurants when you don’t have 4 kids with you. But sometimes Clay likes to grill a steak for us. There is a park style grill on one side of the cabin and the kitchen was very well appointed. It has a full size fridge with ice maker, range and oven along with extras like a coffee maker, toaster, toaster oven and blender. There were plenty of pots and pans for cooking any meal and we even saw a griddle in one cabinet so I could have made pancakes for breakfast! There’s plenty of dishes as well.
This was one of the cleanest cabins I’ve ever stayed in! In the mountains you expect to see beetles or spiders, maybe some cobwebs if the ceilings are really tall. The ceilings were super tall in this cabin but there was not a cobweb in sight. The windows were clean. The floors, counters, bed, bath, etc. were spotless. That makes for an ever more enjoyable vacation because you don’t have to worry about anything.
This cabin also offers a washer and dryer in the big bathroom as well as a huge closet with a full length mirror and even a Jacuzzi tub in the bedroom! If you don’t feel like suiting up for the hot tub or if you want to soak and relax alone, that Jacuzzi is awesome!
Here is a slider showing photos from every room and outside of the cabin.
Even though this cabin is perfect for a weekend getaway with your sweetheart, it actually sleeps 4. It has a pull out sofa for two additional guests or small children. We enjoyed being alone this go around.
I will always recommend the Smoky Mountains for any family vacation, romantic getaway or adults only trip with friends!
Talk to me. Have you been to the Great Smoky Mountains? Do you stay in cabins when you go and what are your favorite activities to do while you’re there?
