My Opinion:

Texas Rose Happily Ever-AfterTexas Rose Happily Ever-After by Katie Graykowski
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Texas Rose Happily Ever-After is a cute and extremely funny love story with a fast paced flow. It’s a little too fast paced in the sex part, for me. I just feel like the point from “hi my name is” to “rolling in the hay” happened almost out of nowhere. There wasn’t enough flirtation or getting to know each other between A-Lee and T-Bone before they were going at it. I would have liked a bit more meat to their story first. What I LOVE is that this is not just a story of romance but of an entire family dynamic coming together to embrace one another, flaws and all.

This story shows us what family should be and how we should all love and encourage each other to follow our own dreams in life. It has a little hot and spicy action thrown in with some mystery and no hint of the anger and unnecessary drama found in many other novels.

I really liked this story. I laughed more while reading this book than I have in a long time. The brother’s (and sisters-in-law) banter hilarious. I love the one-liners thrown back and forth.

Even though this book is part of a series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone novel. I was a little confused, at first, by who was who, but quickly figured out each of the characters. The story-line had a nice flow to it and I was able to quickly pick up who each person was. I love that the ladies in this story all came together to help one another without bickering or jealousy. It was nice to read heroins getting along and loving one another just because that’s who they are! Overall, this was a great weekend/vacation/Holiday read for sure!

Review by: Crystal Martin

Texas Rose Happily Ever-After: A Texas Rose Ranch Novel Book 5
Texas Rose Happily Ever-After is the 5th book in the Texas Rose Ranch series (but easily reads as a standalone romantic comedy) and is built around San Antonio “T-Bone” Rose, the handsome farmer who unexpectedly meets a gorgeous princess-in-disguise on a mission to find her mysterious grandfather. What they find changes their lives forever.

Book Synopsis:

Swacovian Crown Princess Alexandra Louisa Eleanor Evangeline Von Claremont known as A-Lee is on a mission to find her maternal grandfather. She promised her beloved grandmother as the woman lay dying that she would find the man who her grandmother had loved and then lost contact with during the Korean War.

After all, the man has a daughter and a granddaughter that he doesn’t know exist. Over the years her grandmother had looked for him, but in 1965 he disappeared. The last place he worked was the Texas Rose Ranch. A-Lee must find him. It was her grandmother’s dying wish. She will not fail. Her whole life has led up to this point. Nothing will stop her. Until she runs out of gas in the middle of nowhere.

San Antonio—T-Bone—Rose is the fifth son of the famed Texas Rose Ranch. It may be the second largest ranch in Texas, but it’s the most profitable by far. He’s finally home for good with his newly minted PhD in Agribusiness. He’s taking over the farming arm of the family business. The ranch is going non-GMO whether the family likes it or not. He knows best. It’s his way or the highway. Speaking of the highway, there seems to be a tall chestnut-haired woman wearing a red sequin crop top walking purposefully down the middle of Highway 16.

After some serious convincing, T-Bone talks A-Lee into taking a ride from him to the Texas Rose Ranch. Together they tear the ranch apart looking for clues to the mystery that is Llewellyn Bradford.

What they find, changes their lives forever.

Oof, so this is the only reason I’m giving 4.5 instead of 5 stars. It just moves way too quickly. Like, WAY too quickly! The entire story takes place over the course of, like, 2 weeks. And the 2 main characters have sex, fall in love, get engaged then get to know one another. Except, they don’t. They never really get to know one another! That was a bit odd for me.

I get that it is a short novel. BUT, A-Lee and T-Bone hadn’t even talked about liking each other or going on a date or anything like that before kissing then climbing each other in a field. I mean, I know that sometimes folks are really attracted to each other and just go with it but they didn’t really know anything at all about each other. Not even if the other person even liked them until then! So, that was just too fast.

I also felt like A-Lee figuring out who her grandfather is happened suddenly. The story was going along and then BOOM, we know who it is. That dynamic went a bit odd for me too but I liked it. It was sweet and endearing.

Otherwise, a very cute story and I’d like to read the first 4 in the series soon.
