Smooth Viking Beard OIl, Balm & Conditioner.

I’ve had a beard for as long as I can remember. I had one all throughout highschool and only shaved it on rare occasions. These days I’m sporting more of a goatee, instead of a full beard.

Crystal says she likes me better with facial hair. But it tends to get dry and itchy. Not to mention, unruly. I have all these stray, wild hairs that like to turn upwards and outwards and go in every different direction. I like to let my goatee grow kind of long but you can imagine how annoying it gets with it sticking out everywhere. And like I said, it gets dry and itchy. Especially in the winter.

Smooth Viking Beard Conditioner

I’ve been trying some products made by Smooth Viking to see if they would help moisturize my beard area and also tame it a little. There is a balm that is supposed to allow you to actually style your beard. And then there’s a conditioner and an oil that is for moisturizing. They both have similar functions – to soften bead hair and relieve itch. I suppose it just comes down to your preference of using an oil versus a balm. So I figured I’d give the Smooth Viking Beard Care Line a try.

Here’s what you can get in the Smooth Viking Beard Care line:

Smooth Viking Beard Care Line

  • 2 fl oz bottle of Beard Oil
  • 2oz jar of Beard Balm
  • 2oz jar of Beard Conditioner

I started with the Smooth Viking Beard Oil. To us it you just rub 3 drops between your fingers and into your beard. I rubbed it in as close to my skin as possible. It is a light oil and rubs in pretty easily. I do feel like using an oil would be a little easier if you just used the dropper and placed it directly on your beard. It is a little messy, I noticed that my skin felt really nice as soon as it was rubbed in. It made my beard hair shiny, softer and less dry looking.

My beard wasn’t greasy feeling. The oils rubbed in well and dried, leaving no oily residue.

The smell isn’t overpowering. It smells like shea butter and olive oil and just has a good, clean scent.

The next day, I tried the Smooth Viking Beard Balm. To use it you rub a bit of the balm off with your fingernail, rub it between your fingers a little to soften it and then massage it into your beard. I figured it would be really waxy and hard to rub in but it wasn’t. The oils in it melt on skin contact and rub right into the beard hair. Like the oil, my skin felt really nice almost immediately.

On both days, I also used the Smooth Viking Beard Conditioner. You use it the same way you use the balm, Just scrape a little with your fingernail and rub it into your beard. It begins to melt on contact with your skin.  You can see in the photo and video clip below, Crystal rubbed the conditioner between her fingers for about 15 seconds and it was completely melted and ready to use. I didn’t notice a huge difference right away but after a couple of days my bear did feel noticeably softer.

Each of the products contain natural ingredients like Shea Butter, Mango Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Argan Oil, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Jojoba, Beeswax & Pure Essential Oil so it has a natural fragrance to it. I’ve heard some folks describe it as a pine-like scent but to me I smell the shea butter and the oils. Just the natural fragrance of all the ingredients and nothing perfume-y.

After using the products for several days I really notice a nice difference in my beard and it is no longer itchy. Those fly away hairs seem to be staying in place now too. No more beard sticking up my nose! My wife is considerably happier too.

Overall, I’m very happy with the Smooth Viking Beard Care line of products.
