We’re going hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains!

Our fall vacation is coming up in the very near future. We ALWAYS go to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. We rent a cabin with my husbands extended family and have a blast being together. We don’t always do the expensive tourist stuff but we DO always take in the scenery. By vehicle and by foot.

This year, we decided to do some hiking. We did a little when we went for Spring Break and it was wonderful. Our youngest daughter walked quite a bit on the trails but we eventually ended up needing to carry her. One thing we learned very quickly was that carrying a 2 – 3 year old on your hip or piggy back isn’t easy when on a trail in the mountains! At least not without a carrier. So this year, we decided to try the Boba Baby Carrier and it will be going along with us.

Our trip is still a few weeks away but I wanted to go ahead and test it out some before we go and get it all set for vacation. My hubby is going to be wearing it most so we adjusted all the straps for him. I have to say right off the bat that our 3 year old daughter LOVES riding in the Boba carrier! Clay took her for a walk around the block and he adored it. When we got home, she asked to go again and we’ve been talking walks daily since. She even fell asleep in the carrier so it must be pretty comfortable.

My husband said that it is very comfortable on his back too. With the carrier, the weight is distributed across his hips instead of his back. There are stirrups for her to place her feet so she can adjust herself and keep her legs in a comfy position. There is a chest strap and waist strap that also helps keep the weight distributed in the right places and keeps the strain off his back. There are also pockets on the outside where we can keep keys, cell phone, I.D. or other small items. I asked him if thinks the Boba carrier will make this years hiking trip easier and said it definitely will. I also tried he carrier and was VERY surprised at how easily it i to carry her. I have a lot of back pain and trouble carrying heavy things but I didn’t have any problems at all carrying her with the Boba carrier. I’ve been carrying her around the house to build up my strength for hiking and it has been great! She fits perfectly on my back. With the chest and waist strap as well as the adjustable shoulder straps, I can tighten it just the right amount and not worry about her sliding around on my back. And she is quite content to be there!

She was so comfortable, she went out like a light. I think it is going to be superb on our trip and will make navigating those trails with a three year old much easier!

You can see her feet in the stirrups.

I am going to take lots and LOTS of photos while we are on vacation. I even have a blog post and video coming up about the cabin we are staying in this year. So be on the lookout for that along with photos and videos of the Boba Carrier in action on our trip. I can’t wait to try it out on our mountain hiking trip!
