Walk The Walk is bringing their iconic overnight power walk, The MoonWalk to New York City on July 20th at 10pm
I just love posting about important causes and sharing with you ways to participate and help out. (Digital training guide download below) Breast cancer research is certainly a causes that deserves attention. New York City hosts a walk called the MoonWalk. Participants, both women AND men, power walk through New York in a decorated bra to raise money for breast cancer causes. This annual events boasts 8,000 participants! There are two courses to ensure that everyone can participate no matter their fitness levels or abilities.: Half Moon (13.1 miles) and Full Moon (26.3 miles). You can sign up to participate in either walk (half moon 13.1 miles, full moon 26.2 miles).
I have amazing images to share from past walks. Men and women alike are dressed in bras to show their support. I think this is one of the most inspirational and fun evens for breast cancer research that I’ve heard about yet. And if my family were in the NYC area, you can bet we’d be among those walking!!!

[easy-tweet tweet=”One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. ” usehashtags=”no”]About Walk the Walk Worldwide:
After Founder and Chief Executive Nina Barough was diagnosed herself with breast cancer in 1997, the charity grew to include a wide range of Power Walking marathons and challenges across the globe. Walk the Walk is passionate about encouraging women and men to become healthier through Power Walking and taking responsibility for their own well-being. Walk the Walk organizes Power Walking events such as The MoonWalk London, The MoonWalk Edinburgh Scotland, The MoonWalk Iceland, and The SunWalk London. Since it’s inception fifteen years ago in London, MoonWalk has engaged over 300,000 participants and has raised over $126 million dollars to support vital breast cancer causes.
Presented by Empire BlueCross BlueShield, the overnight walk through New York City will begin with a participant opening ceremony celebration at Randall’s Island. Walkers will then depart weaving through Manhattan past the city’s most iconic landmarks, lit up brightly at night.
The MoonWalk hopes to raise two million dollars in one night, most of which most of which will be granted to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, to help support their Breast Examination Center in Harlem (BECH), one of the first free screening facilities for breast cancer in the country where 80% of the patients are uninsured but guaranteed support and guidance.
If you are in the NYC area, I really hope you’ll consider participating in The MoonWalk! If not this year, than next.
